It's happening to me too :(, I have a Dell inspiron 9400 with nvidia card GeForce Go 7900 GS. it seems to occur more when I'm using firefox, but happened with other programs too but rarely. I'm considering to make a downgrade to 7.10 which worked like a rock in the same computer. -- Ubuntu 8.04

I have the same problem but only with compiz actived. I have a dell inspiron 9400. nvidia 7900 gs , drives v. 180 when I active the compiz the color depth seems to be changed down. xwininfo command return depth 24 wherever, but it is not what I see. -- nv driver does not use correct color
