I've also tested more recent versions than 5.15 from the mainline PPA
(5.16 and 5.17), they all fail to resume.

On my laptop

[Bug 1967727] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X260] Random screen blanks with "CPU pipe B FIFO underrun" error

2022-05-09 Thread Alberto Donato
Daniel,

yes I'm using an external monitor via DP. This is the same setup I've
been using for a long time with no issue. I've reverted to the Impish
kernel (mainly because of an other kernel issue preventing
suspend/resume) and that makes the issue disappear.

I tested by installing the kernel from impish (linux-
image-5.13.0-40-generic) on jammy, suspend works correctly with that
one.

Also, probably related, after the system has entered standby (the power
led pulsates slowly), the fan keeps running for a while. I've never seen
this behavior before with previous releases.

[Bug 1967721] [NEW] Laptop never resuming from standby

2022-04-04 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

On a Lenovo Thinkpad X260 with 22.04 and 5.15.0-23-generic kernel, after
suspending the laptop, it's never possible to wake it up.

Neither keyboard nor power button work, only way is to long-press to
force poweroff and restart.

This did not happen with 21.10.

[Bug 1849478] Re: [snap] (experimental) pipewire support not available

2022-02-04 Thread Alberto Donato
I just tested now sharing the whole screen, in that case after I select
the display on the second popup, I see the preview on the first one,
select it, a new popup appears and if I select the screen again then it
does work.

This trick only seems to work for the whole screen thoough, not a single
window.

2022-02-04 Thread Alberto Donato
Olivier, if I click "share a window" the following happens:

 - the in-app "Share an application window" popup appears (nothing in it)
 - the standalone "Screen share" popup appears"
 - I select a (wayland-based) window, click ok
 - the original "Share an application window" popup is still there, still
empty, "Share" button is disabled, I can only cancel

I have a slightly different on Impish, with 97.0.4692.99 (1878):

With the pipewire flag enabled, I do get the popup, I can select a
window but then nothing happens, and the initial popup doesn't ever
close, I have to cancel the screen share.

[Bug 1949075] [NEW] Bluetooth headset not autoconnecting on power-on on 21.10

2021-10-28 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

After moving to Impish, my bluetooth headset doesn't automatically
connect when I power it on (it was working fine on hirsute).

When I go to the bluetooth settings, select it and click connect, the first
time it disconnects immediately and I see this line in bluetoothd log:

Oct 28 13:57:11 arrakis bluetoothd[1106]: src/profile.c:record_cb()
Unable to get Hands-Free Voice gateway SDP record: Host is down

After that, clicking the connect button again makes it work.

I'm not sure where to find info to debug this furhter

[Bug 1897454] Re: [snap] Chromium dev cuts off Wayland display

2020-12-07 Thread Alberto Donato
I did a quick test by unpacking the current stable snap (87.0.4280.88,
rev. 1421)

After removing DISABLE_WAYLAND, adding wayland plug, I copied missing
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libEGL* and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-

I now get the following errors:

[Bug 1906792] [NEW] Chromium tabs freeze with two windows on different workspaces on Wayland

2020-12-04 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

When using Chromium (snap) on Wayland (gnome-session), if I keep two
windows open on different workspaces, sometimes the current tab becomes
unusable as it freezes or is super-slow.

This usually happens with specific pages open, like youtube, mattermost,
google drive.

Minimizing one of the two windows makes the other work fine.

The issues does not happen if both windows are on the same workspace.

I've seen this issue in 20.04 and 20.10, always on Wayland sessions. The
same behavior doesn't happen on a plain X11 session.

[Bug 1878769] Re: [SRU] updates to the maas deb2snap package

2020-05-25 Thread Alberto Donato
Hi Steve,

thanks for uploading the package.

I ran the following test scenarios, confirmed upgrade logic worked in
both cases:

1)
- clean bionic install
- install maas 2.6 from ppa:maas/2.6
- install 1:0.7 packages
- the snap gets installed from "2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04"

2)
- clean focal install
- enabled focal-proposed
- install "maas"
- the snap gets installed from "2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04"

[Bug 1878769] [NEW] [SRU] updates to the maas deb2snap package

2020-05-15 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

The current (1:0.6) maas packages in focal provide transition to the
MAAS snap.

This is currently done by getting maas from "stable/ubuntu-$release" for the
default branch (which is currently 2.7).
We want to change this to ensure a consistent behavior, always installing 2.7
even once a new release becomes the default track.

The attached MP implement this, along with a few fixes/cleanups for the current
preinst logic.
Specifically, the current package doesn't handle an upgrade from a previous
version of the transitional package.

[Impact]
* upgrading to focal currently migrates to the stable/ubuntu-20.04 snap, which
is currently 2.7 but will be 2.8 in the future

[Testcase]
* Install maas on bionic (either from archive or ppa:maas/2.6)
* Upgrade to focal.
* `snap info maas` shows snap installed from `2.7/stable/ubuntu-20.04`

[Regression potential]
* Regression potential is low, aside from the desired change in behavior
selecting snap channel the branch prvoides a fix for the case of upgrading the
transitional package to a newer version.

[Bug 1862503] Re: Installer crashed

2020-03-12 Thread Alberto Donato
I did want to have @ and @home.

When installing previous ubuntu releases, I usually kept the btrfs
partition with the @home subvolume, and moved the @ one out of the way,
and the installer would create the new @ subvol for root, and reuse
@home.

This my current layout (on eoan) is the following:

/dev/sda1 EFI  -> /boot/efi
/dev/sda2 ext2 -> /boot
/dev/sda3 LUKS volume, containingt the "ubuntu" LVM PV with following LVs:
  "swap" -> swap
  "root" -> btrfs with "@" and "@home"

Before reinstalling, I just moved "@" to "@-eoan" and manually recreated
the same layout, picking /dev/ubuntu/root as btrfs filesystem mounted at
/, without formatting.

The installer creates the @ subvolume and reuses the @home one.

Since this attempt, I've been unable to test the install again because
of #1867065 which doesn't get me past boot.

2020-02-14 Thread Alberto Donato
This is not a maas bug.

Since nginx fails to install and it's a maas dependency, install is
interrupted and can't complete instaling maas.

WRT i386, as focal won't support the arch anymore, no maas update will
be available for i386 users.

[Bug 1862846] Re: Crash and failure installing focal

2020-02-12 Thread Alberto Donato
@Ryan FWIW the reason the install doesn't mark anything as modified is
that I was trying to keep the btrfs root partition (/dev/sda3) and just
install there.

I thought the installer would work similarly to what the desktop
installer does with btrfs, where it creates subvolumes for / and /home
in the root partition (as @ and @home).

On my desktop, when I upgrade I just move @ out of the way (by renaming it) and
the installer creates a new one.
This is kinda nice as you can easily keep/revert to the old rootfs by just
changing which subvol is mounted at boot.

Is there any way to do that with subiquity?

[Bug 1862503] Re: Installer crashed

2020-02-09 Thread Alberto Donato
I was performing a clean install using a custom disk setup, with a btfs
root where I had backed up and removed the "@" subvol, and kept the
existing "@home".

Tried two times, installer always crashed.

Maybe unrelated, but after restoring the old "@" and rebooting, grub
picked the new (5.4.0) kernel, and that failed to boot because it
couldn't find LVM.

Rebooting with the kernel from eaon worked.

[Bug 1765477] Re: 5s delay in AAAA dns resolving; artful and earlier is quick

2020-01-24 Thread Alberto Donato
I'm seeing this in eoan, too.

Whenever I try to access a host in my lan, host resolution takes 15s
(tried timing "ping -c 1" and "nslookup"

a "dig " query is immediate, but a "dig " also takes
15s.

It seems it's trying 3 times, each with a 5s timeout before failing.

[Bug 1832176] Re: Quick erase by default when erasing disks does not work

2019-11-26 Thread Alberto Donato
In the UI it seems settings are never considered in the machine listing page.
Clicking on a machine and selecting release from the details page, shows the
correct settings.

Reloading the details page and selecting release always shows all
settings to off.

[Bug 1851885] [NEW] Icons missing after automatic snap refresh

2019-11-08 Thread Alberto Donato
Public bug reported:

I had my browser running for a long time, noticed that when saving a
page or downloading a file, icons in the save dialog are missing (see
attached screenshot).

Checking "snap info chromium", it seems the snap has been recently
refreshed, so I still had the older version of the app running.

Restarting the browser fixed it.
