While I would assume that manually symlinking it would work, shouldn't
the system do this sort of thing automatically? Isn't that the point of
the whole UUID thing? I mean, I can obviously work around it by just
setting my root device to /dev/sda6 in fstab and grub, so merely getting

I just tested with the daily live CD (version 2008-03-19).
I was able to duplicate the problem.
Steps to duplicate:
1. boot from livecd
2. connect to a WPA-protected network. At this point, the system will prompt
for a new password for the default keyring. Enter one. Now the keyring exists

Sound over the built-in speakers sounds fine, as does sound over the
built-in headphone jack.
But the headphone jack on the port replicator sounds bad, in a way that
I can't describe other than as a metallic hum or buzz over everything.

Initially, I have no sound at all from the D/Port port replicator.
Turning on the IEC958 gives me sound, but it sounds terrible, with a
metallic hum over everything. While I appreciate the retro NES feel it
gives to my audio, it really sounds terrible.
** Affects:
If you can provide full output of 'lspci -v' and 'lspci -vn' that would
be much appreciated, and the problem can be forwarded upstream.
The only side effect I know of from using ForceEnablePipeA is slightly
increased power usage. That's according to the upstream bug.

Upgrading system memory to a size larger than the existing swap file
will break hibernation.

OK, further investigation:
I booted with init=/bin/bash and ran rcS scripts until the problem
showed up.
S10udev was where the problem began.

Status: Incomplete = Invalid

Works in latest Hardy.
