Adding those options to xorg.conf makes no difference. The log reported and metamodes was not supported, so I removed that. And the minimal xorg.conf is generated by 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver- xorg' these days. I don't see in the log any DDC probe to get the display's supported resolutions
