I have a old Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset based card
that I just plugged into my workstation. It doesn't work with NM and WPA
networks. The hostap driver and my firmware versions (below) are
supposed to support WPA on this card. But the password dialog keeps
getting popped up
Confirmed by me. Haven't been able to get the mic operational yet.

set, the system will run with virtually no overhead when function
tracing is disabled.
Since in our case DYNAMIC_FTRACE is off, do you still think the
installing 'linux-backports-modules' seems to 'fix' this bug.

Adding those options to xorg.conf makes no difference. The log reported
and metamodes was not supported, so I removed that.
And the minimal xorg.conf is generated by 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-
xorg' these days. I don't see in the log any DDC probe to get the
display's supported resolutions

Bay hotplug patch from Gutsy was integrated upstream, so we already
carry it. Can you confirm if you see ACPI events on ejecting the bay? It
probably shows up in /var/log/acpid

There are two things to try:
1. Upgrade the firmware on your drive to run the latest
2. Check with latest Gutsy release if this problem recurs
A quick google search for this drive seems to show that this drive is
causing problems to lots of people on Windows and Linux. Some people
have reported

On Gutsy: Make sure you have linux-backports-modules installed
1. Delete /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
2. sudo rmmod snd-hda-intel
3. sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel
This should restore your mixer setting to default.

amd64 package for sl-modem from http://packages.debian.org/lenny/sl-
modem-daemon detects the modem and sets it up as /dev/ttySL0.
Can you see if that works for you?
I used #sudo ./slmodemd -c INDIA --alsa hw:0,6 to start it.
