Bluetooth (preferred) or USB. None of the two is detected.

With the latest update to xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.4.0, the bug is
still present.
Note that setting the resolution after login is not a feasible
workaround, because this does not have any effect on gdm.

With these changes, X does not start any more (blue console warning
about not being able to start X).
I was just about to attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log, when I noticed that this
one hasn't been touch since yesterday. Strange, I would expect the
error(s) from just 10 minutes ago to be logged there.
Not a single file has been touched in /var/log, not even syslog. I will
investigate into that problem.

Mario, I'll test this with the checkbox turned off.
Can you provide us with the (location of the) sound sample that is
intended to be played using this option? This way, we could tell for
sure if it's the sample we are hearing.

of 4).
It sounds really ugly. I think it should at least be replaced by
something more friendly for the ears. As I mentioned in the duplicate,
it has the potential to damage one's ears, if it happens to be played
