i've typed out this:
sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon
and change the default country from YOUR_COUNTRY to your NEW_ZEALAND.
Then inform the slmodemd by rebooting or
$ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon restart
$ ls -l /dev/ttySL0 /dev/pts/* /dev/slamr0
should report these ports setup,
Moved PCI MODEM to slot 2 now

Do I need to re-install the drivers again?I have also removed the
dkms and sl-modem* drivers and utility off the system but not by sudo
apt-get autoremove or purge
