Yes, Greg, I was able to install. This is the workaround:
Instead of launching ubiquity via the desktop icon, I opened a Gnome
terminal, and launched ubiquity from the command line, passing the --
desktop --no-migration-assistant options.
It worked perfectly, then.

Evan, I don't think it was a bad CD burn. I did a CD check with the boot menu
option, and the test was successful.
I burned the iso on a rewritable CD (I erased it, so I cannot test it anymore).
I upgraded from feisty to gutsy using update-manager, so I did not test the
7.10 version.

Since the bug was reported (2007-03-25), I've been using the drive with no
problem at all.
