|As it happens, I just re-started testing new kernels yesterday and so
far 4.8.0.32 seems to work, no hangs yet. (Reminder: this used to happen
mostly before login but also sometimes after hours of working). I will
keep on testing and you guys updated.

trying to use kernel 4.8.0-27. 4.8.0-26 seems to work fine so far.

This same thing happens to me after upgrading to kernel 4.8. Switching
back to 4.4 is a temporary solution though not ideal.

Pulseaudio is working fine apart from this big bug. Removing pulseaudio
solved the problem, and generic (ubuntu default) sound driver plays
back flash with sound (e.g. youtube videos) but that is not a solution
for me, and I could not find any

I am doing all the lib and gtk pacage thing to get my gnomad2 working,
which is gradually missing less and less packages after every install,
after ./configure.
Ah... and using Hardy, were trying to upgrade gnomad2 from ver 2.8.12.
to 2.9.1 to use it with ZEN Vision W
