Yes, in Ubuntu 8.10 - File Roller 2.24.1, for multi-part RAR archives
the progress bar stays at 50% for the duration of the extraction. The
status text indicator displays what file part it is currently
processing, but that is the only thing that actually works.

Artem's patch matches the expected behavior - the column lock scrolling
is perfect.
I hope this makes it into Jaunty!

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nautilus
The version of Nautilus in Intrepid does not support mappings of the
mouse nav buttons (forward and backward) to the forward and backward

This is a very common feature found in
Do you have a link for it? I haven't been able to find it (which is why

Thanks.

I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my machine with an ASUS X-Fi DX sound card. When I
try to change the volume with the slider the range is compressed into
the top 25% of the bar.
That is to say, when the slider is from 0%-75% the volume is at 0. At
100% the volume is at 100, and between
Might this be a clone of (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433541)? Worth
seeing if the new kernel and Intel Xorg drivers do the trick. Check the
last few posts of that thread.

I get the same error message during boot-up, however I don't get any

I updated to the latest kernel -- rev 13 I believe -- and the latest

these were just added to the repos today.

[karmic] Warning
Yes, this is a perfect candidate for One Hundred Papercuts!
Having moved from Windows to Linux one irritating thing was the lack of
a working progress bar in file-roller when I extract rars (and other
multipart archives). I know this functionality can work - I used to see
the bars work properly
This bug was originally filed for RAR format archives. There is a fix
for this which is trivial it seems, so why can it not be fixed? Since
you're basing this fix on the output of command line tools then at least
fix what is available (and has been available for some time) as each
different format
Same error here too - fresh 9.04 Xubuntu 32-bit install on an Intel

HDMI).

I have this problem as well - as do many people on the ubuntuforums.
One solution is as follows:
Run sudo alsa force-reload at the cli after resume.
This is just a temporary solution, there should be a more permanent fix
to this problem...
My machine:
ASUS P5B, Core2Duo E6700, 2GB DDR2 800MHz
I tried to install the Beta and it repeatedly froze on me at random
points during the installation. I remember that intel drivers were in
issue in previous versions of ubuntu and found this bug report. I have
the same graphics chipset.
I will likely install using the text-based installer and
