Public bug reported:
On a Lenovo Thinkpad X60, the microphone sound captured within Ekiga is
jerky and choppy, unless we reload sound module snd-hda-intel.
Step to reproduce :
Normally boot the laptop,
Launch ekiga and go through the assistant, and do the audio test
-- ekiga records mic input
My A818 is already supported as a MTP device in Hardy. Just try to plug
it in and launch Rhythmbox.
However, I would feel very angry to see that Ubuntu used to support it as a
mass-storage device, but would prefer to use a proprietary drm-friendly
protocol with the following drawbacks :

I just gave a try with gutsy kernel (2.6.22) : A818 doesn't automount.
So it's not related to the brand new hardy kernel.

Some fresh news from this bug :
It seems as if the system was not telling HAL the size of sdb1.

Public bug reported:
I compared different mp3 encoding methods, and figured out that mp3
files encoded with gst-lame and with lame using the same settings match
different file sizes.

I finally found a possible reason of the bug we are going through.
First of all, the size of the volume reported by the kernel through sysfs
hasn't changed since Gutsy, nor do the permissions :
gutsy:~$ ls -l /sys/block/sdb/size /sys/block/sdb/sdb1/size
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 2008-05-06
It seems as if there is no SMAPI support in Feisty : the module is not
included in kernel-2.6.20 and module-assistant fails building thinkpad-
source.
