graphics chip inside. Ubuntu suggests to aktivate the enhanced driver
for NVIDIA, but after reboot, the display stays black. I can hear the

When system boots, it tries to fsck partitions to be mounted according
to fstab.
As fsck.ntfs doesn't exists on Oneiric, it fails with error 8 then ask
for user input (Ignore, Skip or Manual Repair).
Creating a symlink from ntfsfix to /sbin/fsck.ntfs make things working
I do agree with that, the problem is that this issue prevented system to
boot.
The only error was fsck.ntfs not found. Partition itself had no errors.
So in my humble opinion, the boot process shouldn't alert user about
serious errors when there is NO error on partition but just a tool

In fact I should have set the last field of the corresponding line in
/etc/fstab to 0 to prevent fsck at boot for the ntfs partition.
So it is not a bug but a mistake from myself

I can confirm this bug. I upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 and have a HP

the problem has had to do with the old addressbooks. i have now created
new addressbooks and all works fine now. :-)

WIthin 20-30 minutes my system freezes almost totally except for the
fact that the cursor may be moved a bit sporadically around by small

I choose the linux-virtual kernel, not knowing this kernel is meant as kernel
for a guest. Appearantly this package doesn't install modules which aren't
needed in such an environment.
In my opinion the installer should warn or at least show the info about choosen
or choosable kernel packages.
This is a squeak-vm problem, not etoys. Packaging a recent squeak-vm
should solve it.

I'm seeing the same thing, on a Sun type 6 USB keyboard (PC layout).
Keycode 22, which is backspace, simply isn't defined. xmodmap -pk
reports no definition, and xev accordingly reports it as NoSymbol. A
temporary workaround is this:
xmodmap -e keycode 22 = BackSpace
But of course that gets lost
Same problem here since 8.04.
It all worked well for me on Kubuntu till 7.10.
Updated to 8.04 and later on to 8.10, but the problem didn't resolve.
Now i'm on Xubuntu 9.04 and the problem still exists.

This is no problem anymore in edgy. This is some time ago, and I believe
it had something to do with my X-config or with some unstable packages
for my videodriver (which I installed back then, when I wanted XGL to
work)
Anyway. Problems are gone.

Strange enough, after working with smbfs more than 2 months without any
problems, I got the same situation (HAL initialize errors) starting on the date
I added an ntfs partition to my fstab as well.
Which logfiles should I look at ?
