System will not power down after shutdown
I installed mainline kernel linux-
image-3.0.6-030006-generic_3.0.6-030006.201110050043_i386.deb (mapped
from kernel 3.0.0-13.21) and it didn't fix the bug. The system won't
power down.
** Description changed:
After upgrading to Kubuntu 11.10 from Kubuntu 11.04 on my Asus S96J

I've narrowed down the problem a bit more, and I don't think it's a
kernel bug but maybe something with KDE or X Windows...
The system will shutdown and then power off when I do the following:
Power on the laptop
CNTRL-ALT-F1 to bring up a console
Logged in normally
Issued the command - sudo
Verified.
I started my laptop, selected Unity, and logged in. I used the
Shutdown menu option in Unity and the laptop did power off.
It appears that this is a bug in KDE and not the kernel, so this bug
report should be closed.

@Joseph - unfortunately, I wasn't able to install the kernel, the

I'm confirming that this issue does reappear when upgrading to Kubuntu
