I don't think it's a good idea to mess with system defaults. Plus if you call the ./script directly it should have already a shebang line with python version. I thought there were qemu-img for that. Since qemu-nbd allows mounting images a rw block devices, it's logical to think that you can use it for that purpose. It's fixed, Secure Boot has to be disabled in BIOS before updating, since it's an UEFI system. It seems like updating linux-headers with Secure Boot enabled messes nvidia drivers. The issue does not happen anymore with the current configuration, even without having xserver-xorg-video-nouveau uninstalled. Maybe another package I've installed recently supplied the required files... It should be installed somehow. When I installed ubuntu I was running the discrete graphics card so nvidia proprietary drivers installed automatically.
