Binary package hint: compiz
In Gutsy, I used compiz with satisfaction. Was smart, fast, and beautiful.
In Hardy, seems like it uses more CPU (15-20% instead of the usual 1-2%). Not
the compiz.real process is the CPU-hungry, the Xorg itself (according to the
top).
I tried

I agree, but not wholy.. I like the way icons are unified in a way, with
similar shapes, but still distinction between them in a way.. However, I
think it also has something to do with the placement of the emblems, the
way you perceive the image as a whole..

I have the same problem... The license approval request locked up my
terminal and I finally had to close the terminal and kill the process
from another terminal. Now dpkg is in a precarious state such that it
will neither install nor remove the sun-java5-jre package. I have re-

I would expect to be able to ping by hostname without installing additional

I ran a wireshark to see what happened when I pinged the hostname which
would inevitably fail, and I got nothing in wireshark. What I think is
happening and makes most sense is that the stub resolver is eating up my
DNS lookup and not forwarding it
I just did an apt purge apport and reinstalled and it fixed the issue
for me.

I am not close to running out of space. I am seeing a drm gpu error when
I switch back. It blinks and is gone, and then I prompted by gdm to
login again, my entire X session is gone. Wayland also has a similar
problem, except the gdm never comes back. Everything is frozen.

Using DansGuardian causes a large set of web sites to fail to show. This
failure takes two forms: a blank page is returned, or an error page is
returned. I'm treating these as one problem because

I use Edgy Eft, gnome-system-monitor 2.16.1-0ubuntu1. It doesn't affect
the performance of my computer, the problem is that the monitor reports
0% network/disk usage under certain conditions:

No, its not the tooltip which displays the incorrect information, but
the graphs on the panel itself. In the attached screenshot, the network

Bryce, Have you tried 'sudo stop qemu-kvm' or 'sudo service qemu-kvm
stop'? Those worked for me on 10.04 when I needed to run VirtualBox
instead, no reboot needed. Restart by replacing 'stop' with 'start'.
