Ok, I figured out what was wrong. When a touch class device is created
it must have at least two axes, X and Y. In the previous iteration of
the server it also required a tracking ID axis. I was also thinking of
mandating a proximity axis. This resulted in a check that required at
least four axes
This bug has a lot of data and comments in it. Could someone provide a
summary of where things stand? What does this bug represent at this
point? Is this bug really against 11.04 now, or are people looking for
support for previous Ubuntu releases?

It doesn't seem to be noted elsewhere in this bug, but the fix is just
to disable gesture support for mixed mode (relative and absolute at the
same time) devices. The only mixed mode device I'm aware of is the magic
mouse. With this new grail package, X will fail to open grail for the
magic mouse.

Hi Francesc,
I was able to test the bug out here, and I can reproduce. You don't need
to upload a core dump.
I believe the original bug I saw is the culprit, but I mishandled the
packaging of the patch when I uploaded the test package to my ppa. I'm
redoing it now.

me. Note that after installing the package you should log out and back
in to restart X. When I tested, it appears that the qt crash can cause
the master pointer

Due to the way scroll events are handled in X today, there's no way
around this. The scroll events are generated in the X input module,
which has no idea of what is really going on on the desktop. One could
say that your application should see the closure of a tab and then
ignore all scroll events

The load avg is only related to the number of runnable/uninterruptible
processes. There can be hundreds of threads and 0.00 load avg if they
are all waiting or sleeping.
However, your screenshot shows consistent cpu utilization of 15-20%, so
one would think the load avg would be at least 0.2 for
I'm not sure what the difference is, but I've got no noise at all on my
macbook. It is currently outputting to a set of speakers. I get a pop
every time a sound is played after a period of no sound, which is likely
due to the sound driver powering on and off when idle. Other than that,
no issues

This occurred on my initial boot after installing Lucid; however, based
on previous experiences I believe this occurs on every boot. On previous
installs I was able to get around the crash by booting into single
mode and then running start gdm.

This is an nvidia geforce 9400M. There's not even any upstream support
for it in xserver-xorg-video-nv. It falls back to vesa. So this is
either an xserver-xorg-video-vesa bug or its an xserver-xorg-core bug I
think.

This bug appears to be triggered by the absence of an xorg.conf file.
Normally I don't have an xorg.conf file, so I was seeing the freeze.
However, I do not see a hang whenever I have an xorg.conf file with:
Section ServerFlags
Option NoTrapSignals true
EndSection
Even with this file I
