Thanks, but the bug you mention is a duplicate of bug 295040, which is
fixed in Jaunty. This particular bug could be considered for a SRU, and
bug 295040 should be used to track that.

that's unlikely to be a HAL issue, but a kernel issue instead. Are you
running this from within Gnome/KDE? If so, could you please try running
it from a console instead (CTRL+ALT+F1). Does it freeze like this, and
