Same. As it is easy enough to compile the driver , it would of been nice if the driver had been included as the package said it was. Woodenpug wrote: That is the basic problem with other linux systems. Downloading the driver does not work. I was looking into ubuntu in hopes that this

This was resolved for me as you can see in my prior post #26 my initial solution was to add a blacklist for module rts8139 New linux kernels mostly solved it and didn't need the blacklist although sometimes problem reoccurs and i just have to unload that module. As I don't use the card reader

I get this behaviour under windows also. It seems to be a combination of the USB controller chipset and the USB3toSATA chipset in the dock/caddy. Newer devices seem more reliable. My laptop is a U270 with NEC USB3. Seems alright for USB3 support, had many cheap caddies not work with it. I have

From tests I found that some USB 3.0 caddies worked fine and some didn't. I have a usb3 cadie with a prolific chipset and it has the disconnection problem. There are some at work which don't fault at all. So for me it isn't the laptop's usb3 controller but the problem is related to the devices

Have you tried with a 3.12 or newer kernel? I had a USB 3 caddy which was consistent in disconnecting but seems to have been fixed by this new kernel. I also blacklist the rts5139 (writing on phone may have module name wrong) module which is for the card reader. On 27/11/2013 4:15 AM, Dmitry
