Hi All, I just got a new used laptop and decided to try a distro other
than Fedora Core which I've been using for years(redhat). I really like
ubuntu/debian more than FC. I'm supposed to be using Solaris 10 x86,
but that's a longer story. The problem is that the laptop keeps

I used the ISPConfig tutorial for upgrading my ISPConfig server from
Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 and things went very well. Except for the final
steps of setting up Postfix to work with saslauthd. Here's what I found.
If I run saslauthd from the command line, explicitly specifying
I disabled add-on TrackMeNot and now the maps show up, plus upgrade to
Firefox 3.0.1

I would have gladly helped out by donating my laptop (See old posting
from quite some time ago), but the overheating finally caused the
motherboard to melt and my laptop is now dead. This was not a good
thing!

After upgrade and reboot the first thing I noticed was that no DNS
resolution was occurring. I run ISPConfig with my own DNS running in
this machine, so that was pretty strange. I checked the /etc/resolv.conf
file and it was empty. So I populated it. Success! Or so I thought

The problem was resolved by changing the syntax in
/etc/network/interfaces. I ended up specifying the IP Address, Netmask,
Broadcast, Network and on only one interface, specifying the Gateway
tag. I think things got confused with multiple Gateway entries. NOTE:
this syntax has worked from 7.0 -

Video works fine, but no audio via HDMI - devices show up properly in
'aplay -l' but do not show up at all in pavucontrol or under the normal
audio devices. Testing with wav files to the devices yields no audio
