I just updated from Breezy to Dapper and have come across this issue. The Dapper upgrade has installed the 2.6.15.26-386 kernel image and since then, the computer is almost unusable at initial bootup and the Ubuntu drums continually repeat. Once the repeating stops, the PC returns to normal
