I have a Compaq Presario R3000, which has the broadcom hardware in it.
When Ubuntu 7.10 came out, my wireless worked perfectly out of the box.
Since doing a clean upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04, I can't get my
Problem solved for me:
Restarted xserver 6times (was unable to switch to console), logged in and
started by startx.
Ran update-manager and updated serveral packages including gdm, human-theme etc.
et voila: system starts normally!

Problem is the same here but now in Hardy Heron Beta, in Gutsy Gibbon my
C3170 Printer/Scanner worked perfectly, my printer was recognized and my
scanner was recognized and worked well, in Hardy my printer is
automaticly recognized when connecting the usb port but the scanner is
not recognized and
I don't think this has something todo with the network bridge. Tcpdump
shows the packets on vifx.0 in dom0. But the packets don't reach the
domU.
Using a 2.6.22-12-xen kernel for domU and the stock 2.6.24-12 for dom0
without changing the configuration, networking works out of the box.

I think I have the same sort of problem on my acer aspire 5023 notebook with a
broadcom 4318 wireless chipset.
After I freshly installed Ubuntu Hardy from the live disk and installed
acer_acpi and the b43 driver the wireless worked.(but the range treble!)

Same Problem here - updated 7.10 to 8.04beta1. The problem may be caused
by display driver. After installing 915Resolution symptoms are better
but not gone. Info-Popups in Gnome-Applet area seem to slow down system
dramaticly. Kernel 2.6.22 seems to be less/not affected.

Desktop effects (Compiz) are working now again - played arround a bit
with xorg.conf ;o) - So from my point of view this bug is done. I had
some trouble with the Indexer (Desktop-Serach) and one day a new kernel
killed my audio output but that's a different story and already fixed.

Nautilus should have a supermode that doesn't require you to go to
terminal and type in gksudo nautilus. When doing something that requires
permission, it should just ask you for password and allow you to
continue.

sorry for the late answer, i obviosuly missed the question from you,
brian. the problem still exists - better, it existed 'til i switched
from the SMP-kernel to the 386 without smp. after that step, ndiswrapper
and my dongle worked properly without any problems. i could install the
686-kernel

Same here too -- oddly enough, that did not always prevent zabbix-agent from
running. On one machine I manually did a
cd /var/run
sudo mv zabbix-server zabbix-agent
and started zabbix-agent. On another machine that seems to have happened by
itself.

I noticed that by changing in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex System/Preferences/Sound the
other sounds play fine while using Ubuntu sound profile.
When changing the mail alert sound file (wav) and thus changing the
sound profile to Custom the other sounds were also gone.

I'm having this same problem as well. Firefox 3.0.5 was working fine
and then opened where I could not see the top firefox 'bar' (i.e. brown
bar with window control) and the firefox window covered over the ubuntu

In 9.04 I didn´t noticed this bug. On my system it affects the VNC Player,
Kaffeine, Dragon Player and Totem Player. So I suppose it would affect any
player you will install. Power Management is disabled on
