after upgrading from dapper to edgy, i am not able to boot with upstart
(works reverting to sysvinit).
Last log i see is init-bottom being executed.
Botting with break=init brings me to the initramfs shell. Executing the
last line of init in initramfs and the system seems

arch.

of the cases. I can rarely get to login. Disable dri doesn't help.

i have noticed this too. It seems that neither partman-lvm or partman-
raid can access their submenus if there are no changes to commit on the
disk layout.
It looks to me like the question that ask In order to go further you
need to commit the changes to disk! yes no is doing something

only introduce another delta that we don't really want to carry around.

upstart seems to work almost fine on ia64 (no spinning) but i can't get
serial console. The machine i have has also a gfx so it probably spawns
the normal tty (no monitor to check) but with append=console...
upstart should also create ttySX.

Scott, this is a regression on all kind of hw machines that do not have
a video card and use serial for output. never mind the ia64. The
installer used to do the inittab magic at install time. Perhaps we need

Kyle could you please do the following:
boot with root=/dev/md0
check if the UUID used by grub is the same as the one in /dev/disks/by-uuid
(the symlink should point to ../../md0)
If it is not the same UUID, fix it in /boot/grub/menu.lst
update the initramfs or make sure to have the latest
I don't think booting from raid makes any difference here. The crc error
comes from the kernel that can't unpack the initramfs and as a
consequence the modules required to access the raid are not loaded.

Hi Colin,
i was doing a texted based distupgrade in X and during console-setup run i
noticed all kind of weird things happening on different xterm's (the highlited
one).

reproduce it either. It could have been a temporary glitch that has been
fixed already.

xorg-server (1:1.0.2-0ubuntu4) dapper; urgency=low
* Fix SecurityPolicy path to /etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy
and ship an example. NOTE: this file is NOT installed by default,
the WARNING you see in Xorg.0.log is an harmless WARNING.
Add patch:
Xorg without a conf file does what it can to attempt a startup. If it
doens't work, is tought luck. You are supposed to have a valid config
file.
