Thank you Scott. I can confirm that your fix solves the recovery console
issues on my machine, it now functions as expected.
However, the tty1 mountall maintenance issue persists. Log into tty1,
execute vim, press ESC and I'm greeted with the mountall maintenance
menu and a root prompt.

Nice program, I've been looking for something like this since the
personal file server applet in KDE3.
I'm working on reading the Ubuntu packaging guide and I should have one
uploaded to my ppa shortly.
I'm quite new at this, but eager to help out where I can. :)

I subscribed to a launchpad account simply to add that I'm also
affected. Latest mountall did not change a thing. Recovery console is
completely unusable after pressing the down arrow a couple of times.
Corrupted cli etc...
Exact same situation as emarkay.
