[Bug 459940] Re: A few Gnome applications do not start (Could not load classifier cascade)

2010-01-06 Thread Garibaldi
I am running karmic and am also experiencing this bug - uninstalling
frei0r-plugins resolves it. I then built frei0r-plugins from git and installed
it using checkinstall. Now, after running rhythmbox I receive the following
error:
$ rhythmbox
(rhythmbox:18793): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion
`(name[0] = 'A'  name[0] = 'Z') || (name[0] = 'a'  name[0] = 'z')'
failed

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstfrei0r.so

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
Run 'rhythmbox --help' to see a full list of available command line options.

It seems that the offending file is
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstfrei0r.so . Is it possible to replace this
object file with an older version? Is it necessary for openshot to
function?

[Bug 459940] Re: A few Gnome applications do not start (Could not load classifier cascade)

2010-01-06 Thread Garibaldi
I upgraded from the custom built frei0r-plugins to the official one in
the repository and rhythmbox still starts okay! I checked the package
from the repository and you were right - libgstfrei0r.so does not exist
in the official build.

[Bug 146864] Re: command-not-found crash on CTRL+C exit

2008-04-23 Thread Garibaldi
I have this same issue, however the situation was a bit different. I had
a fresh install of an Ubuntu Gusty 7.10 variant (XFCE) and I simply shut
down the computer (no errors or problems) and restart the machine. On
restart, this message comes up and drops me to a root console. I cannot
start X or the system. It is using ext3 but even so I thought I'd run
fsck. After doing that, same problem

Just tried to install the beta and still no joy, is there any special

 Hi, thanks for reporting this.

 Failure to detect the SATA drive sounds like a kernel problem. It would
 be great it you could run the Live CD again and attach the output from
 these commands:

 * uname -a  uname-a.log
 * dmesg  dmesg.log
 * lspci -vvnn  lspci-vvnn.log

[Bug 86635] Unable to install herd 4 on Toshiba S100 S1133 with SATA Hard Drive

2007-02-20 Thread Gary Garibaldi
Public bug reported:

Live CD for Herd 4 works good off the CD, but when attempting to
install to hard drive on a Toshiba Portege S100 S1133 notebook the
partitioner can not find the SATA hard drive, I than attempted to
install using the command line recommendation for using the old
installer partationer, once again no SATA hard drive found. I then
attempted to use the Alternate CD and again it gets to the partitioner
and can not find the SATA hard drive.

I know Ubuntu works with this notebook, I'm currently running 6.10 and
in the past had 6.04 installed with no problems.
