Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: software-center
I tried to download and install dropbox .deb with software-center. It
gave me strange error message.
sudo dpkg -i aaa.deb
worked.
Same was the case with skype.
I think this is a bug.

I see the same problem.
When I power on the machine without ac adapter, the power manager thinks that
there is AC adapter.
If I connect and remove the AC adapter, the battery icon appears and the status
is correct.

A bit more info to add.
I noticed that process gnome-power-manager was sleeping.
I made it continue (System Monitor). It showed battery status correctly.

When I installed oem-audio-hda
on xubuntu 13.04 3.8.0.19 initially I did not see HDMI but on an update of
3.8.0.19 restricted synpatic update,
I got HDMI audio.
uname -a
Linux hari-PORTEGE-R835
I was hoping that 3.8.0-19 would fix this problem, It did not. Rolling back to
3.8.0.17 did fix the problem.
My sound card is HDA Intel PCH. Chip Intel CougarPoint HDMI.
How do I upgrade to 3.9?

I should have read more. I know how to try 3.9 but when is likely to

3.8.0-18 Kernel causes HDMI Audio to stop
Thanks ThomasNovin.
I did the following from your link. Downloaded:
hari@hari-PORTEGE-R835:~/Desktop$ ls -lt *.deb
-rw-rw-r-- 1 hari hari 31013124 Apr 22 13:50
linux-image-extra-3.8.8-030808-generic_3.8.8-030808.201304170248_i386.deb
-rw-rw-r-- 1 hari hari 13022298 Apr 22 13:50
Now that I updated to 3.8.8-030808, is there a good reason to roll back
to 3.8.0-19?
If so, how do I get an update? Link please.
