[Bug 822184] [NEW] left sidebar changes size if automatic import starts

2011-08-07 Thread Jan Schuermann
Public bug reported:

the left sidebar changes size if automatic import starts but should stay
fixed.

1. resize the sidebar to something narrow and wait until shotwell starts to
update the library
2. the sidebar gets wider as soon as the import progress-bar appears

i think this is a bug, the sidebar-size should stay fixed in the position the
user chooses
for me it only has to be slim so i have more room for thumbails...

[Bug 820839] [NEW] Firefox 5.0 in Natty with globalmenu sometimes reverts to menu-button

after the last update to Thunderbird 3.1.10 it works just fine ;-)

only thing is: the space where the menu-bar was before is still there,

nevertheless i love having the Thunderbird menu in the panel finally!!

[Bug 744643] [NEW] usb-creator creates a FAT filesystem for persistence but should be ext2 or ext4

2011-03-28 Thread Jan Schuermann
Public bug reported:

only use 4GB persistent partition on my 8GB stick.

ubuntu itself only needs a FAT-16 partition with max. 800MB and the rest
could be formatted as ext2 or ext4 for persistence.

that was the thing the live_usb script does if persistent disk is choosen:
making one partition with 800MB for the ro filesystem with FAT-16 for
compatibility and a second partition with the rest of the sticks memory
formatted as ext2.

i'm confused why nautilus still don't have the miller-column view mode

i would like to know what the problem is!
is it a technical problem?

why no one gets or find any answer regarding this issue but countless
users who wants this so badly and using Dolphin only to have miller-

not ONE little comment to my blueprint for nearly ONE year:

[Bug 708171] Re: Multi-column list view (aka Miller Columns)

2011-01-26 Thread Jan Schuermann
with all due respect, i know the rules for reasonable bug reports and
always follow them BUT this thing with the miller-column-view is
reported by countless users on countless forums and in many bug reports
and until now, EIGHT YEARS after the first report here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96239 NO ONE of the nautilus
team has given a comment or a reason WHY it can't be implemented in
nautilus but IS in other file-browsers.

it just encourages me to not know what is the reason for the missing of
this view mode in nautilus!

sorry for my dramatic bug report...

[Bug 474111] Re: gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was invalid.

2011-01-24 Thread Jan Schuermann
it's still here in Maverick!
i see it everytime i do an install or update in the terminal output.

and a sudo gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor always
gives me:

gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was invalid.

1. when updating or installing software at some point it always wants to update
the icon cache and then gives the error but that seems to be ignored and the
installation normally continues so i haven't let it bother me. until now

2.i expect that updating the icon cache works without any error
messages.

3. i always get this error: gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was
invalid.
even if i delete the .icon-theme.cache the update icon cache command creates
a new file but gives the error mentioned above.

[Bug 438536] Re: Notifications should show up closer to top right

2010-11-18 Thread Jan Schuermann
in Lucid with elementary installed everything was fine. the notification
shows just under the panel and if volume is changed the notification
goes under the volume notification.

i don't like the bubbles with that space to the panel, it verytime looks
like a bug to me.

is it so complicated to change that behaviour? perhaps it IS possible
with gconf-editor parameters?
