[Bug 1857398] Re: ubiquity should support encryption by default with zfsroot, with users able to opt in to running change-key after install
I agree with Richard and we had the same discussion yesterday with Didier. We should expose zfs encryption in Ubiquity and align is on LVM. This would leave the decision to the user to use or not ZFS encryption and not force him to use it if he selects ZFS. Secondly, we don't have any sort of feedback and the measure of the impact of zfs encryption on our users is very limited. It seems to me very risky to enable it by default without any way to disable it, especially for an LTS and on a desktop where users are not necessarily familiar with the CLI. @Steve could you add a section with your vision of ZFS encryption to the "ZFS on root" specification so we can discuss and refine the approach there? [Bug 1848856] Re: zfs on root fails with grub syntax error with multidisks pools
** Description changed: - At the end of the upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10, the post process of the - update-grub reports: + [Description] + When a pool is created on several devices like cache and log on separate devices, mirror or raidz. When grub-probe queries the target to report the device attached to the boot directory, it reports all the devices that make the pool, one by line. However, comparing the grub.cfg.new to the previously generated grub.cfg under 19.04, there is a significant quantity of configuration missing. Manually running update-grub generates the same error. /etc/default/grub is the only file changed from default installation to include zswap. This file was not changed prior to upgrade. The error is reported during the processing of /etc/grub.d/10_linux_zfs which is dated October 11. Actually I think '\r' is a red herring. The problem is that if several devices are used for a pool (raid, log or cache) grub-probe returns several lines. Several are not handled properly when we generate the line of metadata used to create the menu.
