I may have stumbled onto a fix. Download e1000 driver version 8.0.9 from intel.com. sudo make CFLAGS_EXTRA=-DE1000_MASTER_SLAVE=1 install sudo rmmod e1000 sudo modprobe e1000 AutoNeg=0x28 It was the slave=1 part which finally made the difference. This setting forces it to master mode. I don't
