[Bug 1753662] Re: [i40e] LACP bonding start up race conditions

2018-06-11 Thread Jeffrey Honig
We are also seeing this running trusty with the HWE kernel (i.e. 4.4) in
which we have upgraded to the upstream i40e drivers.

When we started using i40e 2.0.26 we found that we needed to add

pre-up sleep 15

for bond0 and this seems to work all the time.

However, when using i40e 2.3.6 or 2.4.6 we find that the sleep does not
work most of the time, even increasing it significantly.

Manually running "ifdown bond0 && ifup bond0 && ifdown eth0 && ifup eth0
&& ifdown eth1 && ifup eth1" does result in bringing bond0 up, but is
less than ideal.

Will the debugging output you requested be useful from a trusty system
(currently with 4.4.0-116)?

Thanks.

Jeff

[Bug 1529033] Re: Install/start fails when hostname is numeric

2018-04-11 Thread Jeffrey Honig
RFC1123 explicitly states that an all numeric hostname valid:

 2.1 Host Names and Numbers

The syntax of a legal Internet host name was specified in RFC-952
[DNS:4]. One aspect of host name syntax is hereby changed: the
restriction on the first character is relaxed to allow either a
letter or a digit. Host software MUST support this more liberal
  syntax.

[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2013-01-04 Thread Jeffrey Honig
This is still present in Oneric with all the latest updates. If the
screen sizes are not the same, the cursor gets stuck on one.

In my case I'm using two DELL U2212HM 1920x1080 monitors. If I change
one to portrait mode (1080x1920) the mouse gets stuck.

[Bug 539730] Re: [G72M] Screen corruption when using KMS. Dell Latitude D620 / Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300

2010-03-20 Thread Jeffrey Honig
I'm trying to live boot beta1 of Lucid on a similar D620. Both the
amd64 and i386 desktop CDs give me same results. X is using the wrong
scan rates so I am unable to use the system.

The system works fine with Interpid i386 and Karmic amd64 (Live and
installed).

Is this the same issue?

[Bug 357898] [NEW] Removing quiet option from kernel boot lines results in console beeps

2009-04-08 Thread Jeffrey Honig
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Jaunty Beta amd64 desktop alternate

Core 2 Duo, Abit AB9 Pro, 4G memory

When booting after removing ``quiet'' from the kernel config line, the
console beeps, apparently from each line of output. I've also seen the
computer hang.

Works fine in quiet mode. Worked fine with Intrepid and Gutsy.
