Before applying this update, I was able to easily crash GNOME Shell in a
default clean updated Ubuntu GNOME 17.04. All I had to do with click the
system status menu in the top right and enable Location.
After updating to libgweather 3.24.1-0ubuntu0.1, I can't reproduce the
crash.

Personally, I would vote for Onboard to be integrated into GNOME
upstream instead of Caribou.
Caribou is very deficient compared to Onboard and has not really been
actively developed much. (There was a GSOC proposal to do some things
but I am guessing the student could probably end up working just

combination of wine1.6 from xenial-proposed and gnome-software from ppa
:ubuntu-desktop/gnome-software.
I then purged that PPA and wine still showed correctly in gnome-software
so maybe this was even fixed already in a previous gnome-
I verify that this bug is fixed now for unity-control-center from
xenial-proposed. I think the other half of this bug was fixed in gnome-

that Ubuntu uses language packs. There is a problem with gnome-weather
not working correctly with Ubuntu language packs. This might be similar
to LP: #1491787
It is now possible to remove gtk2 from the default Ubuntu install in
18.04 Alpha but you'll lose Firefox (can be replaced by Chromium or
Epiphany or Firefox 58 Beta) and Thunderbird (can be replaced by
Evolution) and debconf support in the Ubuntu/GNOME Software app.

I think the "less secure" issue is fixed in Ubuntu 17.10. In April, the
next LTS version of Ubuntu, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, will be released with all
fixes from 17
