[Bug 774532] [NEW] Can't get bigger resolution than 1280x800 on external monitor

2011-04-30 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

My laptop screen is broken, so I always use an external monitor (Samsung
P2470HN 24'') since 10.10.

After update to Natty (reinstalling Ubuntu), the resolution is always
1280x800. On monitor app, there isn't any resolution bigger than this
one.

I try changing video output through Fn+F5, and I even can get a better
resolution, but it's not usable since I only got the upper Unity panel,
but no app window. The background is black, applications menu don't
appear and so on.

I tried turning laptop on already connected to the monitor and also
disconnected, but I fall into the same issue.

[Bug 525807] Re: [upstream] [3.2.1] OOo Slide Show and Fullscreen modes - not full screen under compiz

2010-06-28 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
@Rob, I did what you said, but it didn't fix to me. I tried many times,
reopening OOo Impress and reactivating Compiz, but I had no success.

If I disable Compiz, I can get it working well on full screen mode.

(Using updated 10.04 and OOo 3.2.0)

What tests should I do? What info should I send?

[Bug 354688] Re: crash in drm_intel_gem_bo_start_gtt_access

2009-04-19 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
I also can't play any video format at any video player (totem, kaffeine,
mplayer, vlc, miro...). The outputs are the same presented by IcedEarth.

Workaround to get it working: open gstreamer-properties. Then, Video
tab, Default Output section. Change the Plugin from Autodetect to X
Window System (No Xv) and close. This way, totem will play any video
format, but the other players still not working.

Is it necessary a full backtrace?

[Bug 103019] [feisty] Invalid parameters on recording sound with Sound recorder (gnome-sourd-recorder)

2007-04-21 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 92879 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92879

Do the following to get the error:
- Open gnome-sound-recorder.
- Press record button.
- Wait for a few seconds (say 3s).
- Press stop button.
- Press Save button.

And then an error is reported, saying that the file couldn't be saved
due invalid parameters,

But using File menu and then Save, I can save the file.

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04).
gnome-media version: 2.18.0-0ubuntu1

What's the solution? Automatic translation? I don't know...

It's not feasible for today. But is something to be done in a far day.

Sure! That's the big problem. I don't say it's easy. And what about the bug

Actually, it's a wish, not a bug, as sad before.

The patch to it: use developers for each language. Possible? Of course
not. This is the perfect scenario. But what can be done? Support reports in
Spanish? Or in Chinese? It's a start...

I know that it's not easy to be solved, but I think it'll be great if a bug

[Bug 105882] OpenOffice.org have problems when using bold, italic and underline

2007-04-12 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

My Ubuntu version is 7.04 (Feisty fawn) Beta.
The Openoffice.org version is 2.2.0-1ubuntu3.

The problem: many troubles when writing down texts in Writer with bold,
italic and underline.

I don't have an exact process to achieve a bug, but if you write down a
text, using underline, bold and italic, and make changes, like put the
cursor in the end of a bold word and press the bold button, you'll see.

It bothers a lot!

Sorry if I can't transmit the real problem, but I hope that you
understand it.

[Bug 95936] nvidia-glx change keyboard map and screen resolution

2007-03-25 Thread João Olavo Vasconcelos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

On Feisty Fawn (7.10), after installing nvidia-glx using Preferences -
Desktop Effects, the keyboard map changed.
I was using the Brazilian ABNT2 map, and then it changed to Generic 104-key
PC, I guess.

I installed the console-data package, and try to change the map using
sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-data, choosing the Brazilian map, but it
didn't change.

At Gnome, I changed the map to Brazilian ABNT2 and fixed it, but the
map still wrong to the kernel, text mode and others users.

This installation also changed the screen resolution. I had to add the
1280x1024 option in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and then it works ok.

Yes, and i'm not having any problem with it.

Hi, Chris!

Thanks for the atention.

Hi João, could you explain this problem in more detail?
 a) What do you mean by from the Macromedia or from the repositories? Do
you mean that you've tried both of the plugins and they both portray the
problem? (That would make sense, because they are likely the exact same
 version of flash player.)

I mean the one from the website of macromedia and the packages
flashplugin-nonfree and flashplayer-mozilla.

b) Does this happen for *every* site that contains a Flash
animation/object? And what do you mean by in my account in gmail? Does
 gmail display a Flash animation?

Yes! Like Youtube and the Brazilian www.charges.com.br. And I think that
gmail has something with flash. Probably the alert sound done when a new
message arrives in gmail talk uses flash.

By the way... I'm having many troubles with some proprietor files, like doc,
wma and ppt etc. It happens 3 times: I opened some of these files and the
section has closed! GDM appears! But, after that, I tried again and the file
has opened. It happened once, I reinstalled the Ubuntu and it did it again 2
times.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the bug. It happens only sometimes! =/
Do you know something about it?

Is it just my imagination, or the Edgy Eft (or the packages) has many bugs??
=(

Thanks again!!
