Binary package hint: evolution
On two occcasions I saved attachments to folders I created from within the save
attachment dialog. The folders were created on a VFAT filesystem. On rebooting
into Linux, a hard disk check was performed (30 boots) and errors were
discovered

Its happened twice, but the same file was involved, so it may just be a
corrupt file?
I'll play around with other files and see what happens.

Ok I know what the problem is. Seems like Firefox 3 is using system
settings where I've set font hinting on. Try enabling it and you will
see the difference.

Yes i have installed both firefox-gnome-support and
firefox-3.0-gnome-support.
This is not only about mainmenu font but also affects toolbar and context menu
fonts. Look closer and try to compary with firefox2. On firefox2 it looks nice.
I've attached another screenshot of ff2 and ff3 menus.

Installing postgres 8.1 client which is a dependancy of gforge now
breaks feisty. I can't login to the machine after installing gforge!
I have to boot up in safe mode and uninstall postgres client etc.

Troubleshooting
I noticed that everytime I boot up my laptop at work it hangs after the gnome
login. It usually gets stuck right before the icons appear on the gnome
toolbars.
Even after the icons appear, everything takes ages to load, including a
shell window.
At 1st I thought that it had something to do

Organize bookmarks --I accidently drag All Bookmarks into a sub
directory --click the sub directory of All Bookmarks --Library crushed

I reinstalled before I saw your email so I didn't capture the log file. But my
install was successful and I think my problem initially was I was trying to
open two Install windows simultaneously. Again, sorry I don't have the files

No I didn't. I suspect that I may not have closed openoffice properly before
shutting down or rebooting and I make sure that I do since then and haven't
any any similar problems.

I just read the resposes again and I noticed that I did not aswer one of your
questions. The rt kernel that I have installed is the one that was installed
with the original installation of 9.04.

I concur. In addition even if I run /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon start as
root, nothing happens. This might be a scripting issue. Started by
simply issuing avahi-daemon works just fine.

I have also experienced this problem (as Stan has described) but with a
fresh install of Dapper alt install. Everything works according to plan
(and according to the wiki entry) but then I fall into the same pit: It
kept telling me the filesystem didn't exist until I tried mount -t ext3
This helped me launch the broken alsamixer but did not fix my lack of
OSS sound. No affect otherwise on ALSA which is working.

This is interesting Matthew. I have a gut feeling this is related to
your X configuration and not OpenOffice. However the valid question is
why does this happen only with OpenOffice. Would you be able to
reconfigure X to default and try again?

Although I can't replicate the error, I'll confirm this based on the
valgrind and pass to Matthias. I've seen the same error in
libvclplug_gen680li.so with another recent bug. This might be related to
the other one where it appears that there is a linkage error. Matthias
will need to double-check

Do you have libgl1-mesa-dri (6.5.1) and libgl1-mesa-glx (6.5.1)
installed? If not, please install them, put the bad X config back, and
try to make it crash again.
