Could people state the titles of the DVDs they are having problems with?
Many DVDs have copy protection which break DVD playback. It would be

you not play *any* commercial DVDs?
If its this DVD in particular, its likely because it has ARccOS copy
protection, which most DVDs don't have.

I have a Zydas with the zd1211 chipset, and I'm experiencing this issue.

I have a Lenovo T61, and I can set the backlight levels just fine with
the special keys. However, whenever I close and re-open the lid, the
brightness level returns to the default, which is very dim. The
brightness level should be preserved instead.
The sound level buttons (mute, down, and up) produce very strange X
events instead of keyevents:
FocusOut event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x3c1,
