[Bug 522996] Re: Keys get stuck on Dell Studio 1535
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected single-occurrence trusty ubuntu ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I have a Dell Studio 1535 and I have problems with the keyboard. I've used Jaunty and now using Karmic, but I'm still experiencing problems. Sometimes when I type, a key randomly gets stuck and repeats, until I press a key again (it doesn't matter if I press the same key or any other key). I've also used Kubuntu and experienced the same there too. It's very hard to reproduce because it's random. I've also tried Windows Vista and Windows 7, but there were no issues there. Typing seems to be jagged compared to typing in Windows. Status in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have recently upgraded the kernel of Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) to the latest Intrepid kernel (2.6.27-2-generic). VMWare Server stopped running as a result of this. I tried to reconfigure VMWare Server by means of sudo /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl First this complained that I had the wrong version of gcc (4.2 instead of 4.3). So I installed the package gcc-4.3 and changed the /usr/bin/gcc symbolic link to point to 4.3 instead of 4.2: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 2008-09-01 22:11 /usr/bin/gcc - gcc-4.3 Next it complained that there was a missing header file asm/semaphore.h. In both cases here is what happens: Trying to find a suitable vmmon module for your running kernel. None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Server is suitable for your running kernel. Re: [Bug 263837] Re: VMWare Server on kernel 2.6.27-2-generic: cannot compile vmmon module
No need to confirm a confirmed bug :-) On 10/16/08, Andrea Gardoni [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Same problem here, no way to get out. -- VMWare Server on kernel 2.6.27-2-generic: cannot compile vmmon module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263837 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Yes, it IS pesent in Windows too. Just checked it in Vista SP1, and not only with my ears, but also with smartmontools and hdparm for Windows. Vista does the same as Ubuntu: nothing... it just let's the hdd manage itself. I fixed it in Linux with setting hdparm to 254 while on AC mode and 128 while on battery mode. Sorry for my incomplete sentence upload it so we can test it. I didn't ment uploading to the Feisty repos, but somewhere so we can download it and test it. I don't know how does something get a newer vesion in the repos, but I saw something similar in the HPLIP Toolbox case: we had some bugs, so the maintainer got built a deb package from the new version, uploaded it to his own host or what was it, 12 users or so downloaded it, tested it, and reported any problems, or if it was working correctly.
