[Bug 1966855] Re: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/libpcre2-posix3_10.39-3+u, trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpcre2-posix.so.3.0.1', which is also in package libpcre2

2022-04-01 Thread Kamil
Response at sury.org did not contain enough instructions for resolving
issue, but by reaction on bug I understood that it is not serious. So, I
resolved issue locally by myself in the following way (however, without
full understanding of consequences):

sudo dpkg --purge libpcre2-posix2
sudo apt --fix-broken install
sudo apt upgrade

(The instructions are provided for those who encountered the same bug
but have not enough knowledge in Linus administration.)

This issue may be closed.

Not sure whether it is relevant, but due to recent incidents with
breaking some software for IP addresses based Russia, I think I need to
say that upgrade was performed from IP address in Russia.

Initially, upgrade failed in UI.

I found 4-month bug report on similar topic, but I'm not sure how it can
be resolved: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1377997/the-package-system-

[Bug 1922576] [NEW] No sound card driver for Creative Labs Sound Core3D after latest kernel update

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 20.04, sound card: 25:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs Sound

On kernel 5.4.0.-67-generic, it loads correctly:

[Bug 1921076] [NEW] My screen crashed

2021-03-24 Thread Kamil
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I use the newest version of Ubuntu 20, and sometimes after boot i see a
corrupted image.
Then I turn it on recovery mode and I run 'sudo apt-get install
xserver-xorg-video-intel'.
After the operation and restart pc everything works correctly.
I think the problem is related with integrated graphics driver.

Hope you can fix the problem,
greetings

[Bug 1763047] [NEW] Ubuntu will boot once every 5 or 6 times when lvm snapshot exists

2018-04-11 Thread Kamil Rowiński
Public bug reported:

When lvm snapshot exists on any of the volume groups, ubuntu will hang
while booting and after a while display systemd-udevd:240 blocked for
more than 120 seconds; lvm:50 blocked for more than 120 seconds. At this
point, hard reset is required. Once every 5 or 6 resets it will boot
normally.

Removing a snapshot makes it boot without issues every time.

[Bug 1753010] Re: after recent updates playing youtube videos in firefox causes sometimes freezing of the system

2018-04-09 Thread Kamil
You may close this bug. The problem does not relate to Ubuntu directly.
It was the issue of indexing in Phpstorm for symlinked folders and folders with
cached temporary data.
Also it partially related to amount of memory dedicated to JVM.

2018-03-28 Thread Kamil
I still did not what you asked; but bug has appeared again.
It looks it is strictly related to memory consumption by Java because it
appears hourly (or so) when large projects are opened in Phpstorm. But with a
smaller project all is stable for day (or so).

Also it may be related to Symfony plugin; because the larger project is
based on Symfony but a smaller one is based on Yii.

[Bug 1753010] Re: after recent updates playing youtube videos in firefox causes sometimes freezing of the system

2018-03-18 Thread Kamil
I still did not what you asked; but after recent standard update the situation
has slightly improved. The system crashes once per day but not once per hour.
(At least it was so during recent several days.)
As I remember, it is somewhat worse than it was much earlier (when it crashed
once per several days) but much more better than recently.

More notes will be given in a week.

It will take from me several days to find some free time to understand
how to test kernels safely on working machine. After that it will take
up to several days to be sure that bug is resolved by such fix. So, you
should expect from me report by the next Monday or so.

Not sure whether this additional info can help but adding it: freezing
does not occur immediately for the whole system; initially only one app
freezes (any app); but within 1 minute the whole system freezes too.

[Bug 1753010] Re: after recent updates playing youtube videos in firefox causes sometimes freezing of the system

2018-03-04 Thread Kamil
Right now the system freezed on opening complex js widget in Chromium with
opened debugger.
No Firefox and no Youtube were opened.

So, it looks freezing occurs mainly on any kind of operations requiring
relatively heavy processor work.

Editing text files, browsing texts/images online, checking mail in
Thunderbird may be done for hours without any problems.

** Description changed:

After recent updates that fixed the bug
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1742675 on my
computer the following different bug has appeared. Playing Youtube music
videos (static picture + music, length 40-70 minutes) in Firefox (as
background for other activities on computer) causes sometimes (rather
often, up to several times per day) freezing of the system. And only
restart through reset button can help.

Initially I though that it is related to different Javascript-related
tasks (manipulating with complex widgets in Chromium, running heavy gulp
tasks through yarn) but it looks they are not the reason (or at least
not the main reason). Because right now I have seen the problem when
keyboard/mouse was not touched at all.

[Bug 1742675] Re: after upgrade to linux-image-extra-4.13.0-26-generic the system does not start at all

2018-03-02 Thread Kamil
I'm author of this bug report.
The bug has been resolved by the recent upgrade.

BUT... during recent days the system freezed rather often and required restart
to be usable again. It happened randomly in the following circumstances, for
example:
a) manipulation with complex js widgets by mouse;
b) running heavy job in gulp through yarn;
c) and some other unrelated activities.

Question: is there a way to collect any diagnostics data to post
reasonable bug report for this system behavior that will be enough to
fix this new bug?

[Bug 1744520] [NEW] sometimes (very rarely) windows of different apps start blinking with interval of 0.5 sec or so; it stops after switching focus to another window

2018-01-20 Thread Kamil
Public bug reported:

sometimes (very rarely) windows of different apps start blinking with
interval of 0.5 sec or so; it stops after switching focus to another
window;

the bug is present at least for 9 months (since April 2017th); and it
was detected on 2 different configurations of laptops

I suppose, it may relate to some 3rd party's desktop app I use;
but different apps are blinking, and my configuration of used software is
rather standard for web developer

[Bug 1742675] Re: after upgrade to linux-image-extra-4.13.0-26-generic the system does not start at all

2018-01-16 Thread Kamil
I prefer to avoid testing it on working computer.

However, I can try to test it on VirtualBox if it is acceptable for this bug.
Just explain all steps, please.

[Bug 1742675] Re: after upgrade to linux-image-extra-4.13.0-26-generic the system does not start at all

2018-01-16 Thread Kamil
I suppose, the following 2 bugs are related to the fact that I work under
linux-image-extra-4.10.0-42-generic. Both appeared in Phpstorm only recently
after this main bug:
a) Once some PHP files edited through Phpstorm were cached somewhere deeply in
Ubuntu. So, when i ran them through local webserver older versions were loaded.
The bug was resolved by restarting Ubuntu.
b) Now there is continuous bug. Phpstorm performs some indexing operations with
files continously and some part of UI are blinking.

As you can see all this is related somehow to file system.

I'm not sure whether I need to post these bugs separately.

[Bug 1726958] Re: Network Manager does not show any available connection devices, if installed from mini ISO and ubuntu-desktop task.

2017-10-25 Thread Kamil Jastrzębski
I can confirm this bug is *not* present in upstream as I am using the
newest GNOME stack on Arch Linux, and I haven't encountered this bug
ever before on my system.

I have a suspicion that the same bug also affects Debian Stretch Stable.
If installing the system from the Small CD image with every TaskSel task
unselected but "Standard System Utilities", and manually installing
GNOME stack via CLI, result in no devices being managed by the system
after reboot.

however I need something that will work permanently.

[Bug 1700721] [NEW] Laser printer prints sheets of random ASCII characters

2017-06-27 Thread Kamil Stepien
Public bug reported:

When I print a PDF from my raspberry pi (raspbian jessie) through CUPS (
CUPS 1.7.5) service the first job prints fine but after that any other job
prints random set of characters at the top of the page. I run `CUPS error_log`
but it has nearly 26,000 lines so I will attach the file. I also run `Capturing
print job data` but there I had multiple 'd' files not a single one. I will
attach `appout`, the document I'm printing and the result I get please let me
know if I need to add anything else. The printer I'm using is
`Lexmark_Lexmark_T652`. I want to print A5 paper. File `appout` returns PDF. I
tried converting it to image but the problem still persists.

[Bug 1649280] [NEW] virt-builder stucks in endless loop due to /sbin/dhclient-script failure

2016-12-12 Thread Kamil Madac
Public bug reported:

virt-builder cannot build VM image as it uses locally installed /sbin
/dhclient-script. dhclient-script tries to find out whether / is RW and
reads /etc/fstab. Issue is that it does not exists in supermin machine
which virt-builder uses and it end up in an endless loop of messages:

WARNING: CTRL+C pressed!!!

How to reproduce the bug (on 16.04):
~# apt install libguestfs-tools
~# virt-builder debian-8 --root-password password:xxx --hostname testvm
--format qcow2 -v

Proposed solution:
Do not use /etc/fstab for finding out the state of / in dhclient-script, but
use /proc/mounts instead of it. It makes more sense as it shows real state of
filesystems and it exists on supermin machines, so virt-builder runs flawlessly.

Ok. Got it. In previous version of my app the library was compiled by me

What is the reason to not compile it by default with -fPIC in static

Re: [Bug 1573700] Re: Kernel instability

2016-05-06 Thread Kamil Toman
Hi,

I don't recall having these problems prior 4.4 kernel but it could be that
they were not as pronounced and reported. I can confirm the same issue on
4.5.2 kernel though.

I can't easily test the 4.6 RC kernel because of nvidia DKMS
incompatibility. I tried it with no luck - some interface changed and DKMS
compilation failes (package configure phase). The log is attached.

I can re-test it with updated DKMS if available.

Regards,
Kamil

[Bug 1574142] [NEW] High load (compiz or xorg) and black screen instead of suspend - xenial 16.04

2016-04-23 Thread Kamil
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04
Compiz 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160415-0ubuntu1
Xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3

Using Dell E6420

Problem is when I close a lid or manually try to suspend Ubuntu laptop
is 100% CPU load with black screen. Its still working cause keyboard is
highlighted and I can access by SSH.

Always first try to suspend is ok, but next one makes issue as i
subscribed. Its doesn’t matters if I upgrade from 15.10 or just install
fresh 16.04. Tried default 4.4.0-21-generic and 4.5.1 kernels.

As I said I can access by SSH so pls give me some tips what do you need,
I will try to check and give you a report. As attachment is output from
lspci -vvnn command..

btw I asked on Askubuntu what should I do with this problem when I
discovered it on 16.04 beta1. One guy has same issue as me, he reported
bug but I cant find it now.

Thx for help and I hope we can solve this problem. I'm waiting for
further instructions :)

PS. sorry for my english :)

[Bug 1209106] Re: system tray icon is next to launcher

2015-04-22 Thread Kamil Klimek
While point 1 is quite fair, point 2 is totaly unfair - you're not aware
of such app because noone will create such app. After testing that it
does not work on Ubuntu how are ppl suposed to submit app to
repository? They will have to make a workaround anyway because it does
not work. According to http://doc.qt.io/QtSupportedPlatforms/index.html
Qt 5.2 is supported for another year, but they state that fix was done
on Ubuntu side for Qt 4.8. Why won't Ubuntu provide similar fix for
current version of Qt 5 in 14.04?

And aren't Qt examples in Trusty archive? There is example with tray
icon in Qt5 examples and it does not work properly? Isn't that a good
reason for 14.04 fix?

[Bug 1300914] Re: External screen undetected after first plug

2015-03-24 Thread Kamil
I am on ubuntu 14.04. fix pack 1 = linux kernel 3.16.0-33. HP Elitebook
840

There is no more *ERROR* too many retries, in the log, but the behaviour
is still the same as people describe above.

When VGA is connected to the docking station, reboot fixes the problem
When VGA is connected directly to the laptop and the laptop is undocked, the
problem may be fixed just by sleep/resume, no reboot needed.

[Bug 1396187] [NEW] Biosdevname does not generate expected interface names

2014-11-25 Thread Kamil Madac
Public bug reported:

After upgrade from 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS we lost consistent Ethernet
interfaces names. We expected em1,2/p1p1,.. names, but we had
eth0,eth1,...

For some reason when I executed

/sbin/biosdevname --nopirq -i eth0
it returned nothing

/sbin/biosdevname -i eth0
returned p1p1

It turned out that problem was in file
/lib/udev/rules.d/71-biosdevname.rules

we removed --nopirq parameter from line:
PROGRAM=/sbin/biosdevname --smbios 2.6 --nopirq --policy physical -i %k,
NAME=%c,  OPTIONS+=string_escape=replace
to
PROGRAM=/sbin/biosdevname --smbios 2.6 --policy physical -i %k, NAME=%c,
OPTIONS+=string_escape=replace

and it started to work as we expected. In 12.04 LTS there was no
--nopirq parameter in file 71-biosdevname.rules.

[Bug 1309578] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 suddenly reboots when booting from Live USB AMD A8 6600k

2014-08-13 Thread Kamil Demecki
The title of that bug should be renamed to Kernel 3.13 still broken on
Radeon HD based desktops and laptops like Sangeet is suggesting. I used
option Install new hardware support on 12.04 LTS and I my system
started rebooting because this step installed kernel 3.13. Important
side-effect was scanning disc drive everytime after reboot (cancelling
didn't help as drive coudn't be mounted).

Similar problem I found during installing fresh 14.04.01 - during
starint X server for isntaller my computer is rebooted.

My system - Motherboard: MSI FM2-A55M-E33 (MS-7721), CPU: AMD A10-5700
APU, GPU: [AMD/ATI] Trinity [Radeon HD 7660D]

Bug is opened 4 months for 14.04 but at least user experience it upfront
but I don't understand why you are introducing this LEVEL of bug in
12.04 LTS if it is already known.

[Bug 1232784] Re: package linux-image-extra-3.8.0-31-generic 3.8.0-31.46 failed to install/upgrade: run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools exited with return code 1

2013-10-14 Thread Kamil Porembiński
Try to remove old kernel. Probably you have not enought space in /boot.

1. Check current kernel: uname -r
2. List installed kerels: dpkg --list | grep linux-image
3, Remove old one: sudo apt-get purge linux-image-x.x.x.x-generic
