Ubuntu Software Center 4.0.2 but it failed (meanwhile, a dialog box
showed up and disappeared rapidly; I think it's called Debconf). Now

Well, i'm running current karmic release now. Sound is working just a
minor problem remains, if i shut down the pc it does some strange sounds
like if there is a voltage directed to the speakers which is chancing.
Probably it could be solved if you first unload the sound module before
shutting

All sounds in (k)ubuntu 9.10 (amd64) are played over the internal
subwoofer (on a clean install). (haven't tested on 32-bit version)
i could fix the problem by upgrading alsa driver and changing the options in
the alsa-base.conf to
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop

haven't tried that, i think the new version of alsa solved the problem.
If the newest version of alsa is in the backports it would probably solv
the problem.

Ubuntu 17.10 hangs on reboot after installation

After installing ubuntu 17.10 desktop a window asking for a reboot opens.
After selecting the reboot I get the following error message from systemd: 'A
start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (21s / no limit)'

I've got a D600 and a Docking Station with it I use SUSE 11.0 and found
a little bar in Kmix with only 4 positions labeled IEC958 Playback
AC-97-SPSA if I put this one all the way down and enable the switch
IEC958 on the switch page
