I just ran the repro again on my intrepid box to make sure it still
repros and it did. After that I enabled -proposed and I installed your
updated package and ran the repro again and now the bug is gone.
I'm not a big rhythmbox user myself so I won't do any extensive testing

I got the -5.15 kernel now and I just got intel DDX driver
2:2.6.1-1ubuntu1 through apt. This fixed all my booting problems.
If someone else is still having problems after installing 2.6.1 of the
intel xorg driver please post here asap. Otherwise I suggest this bug be

Issue now longer repro's in Jaunty. There is a python warning being
printed to the console about sha module is deprecated but that issue
isn't specific to totem, it's all over jaunty due to python version
upgrade I think.

Still repros on 2.6.29-rc8 + xorg-edgers as of today.
My repro steps:
1. start a gnome-terminal with "white text on black background" theme and run
"ls -al" to fill it with some text.
2. do "gedit *.txt" on some files and use color theme "oblivion" (dark
background).
3. repeatedly press the gedi

I'm working closely with upstream on this one, intel QA staff have
confirmed it in UXA but they can't repro it in EXA yet (even though I
can repro it using EXA even with .29-rc8 kernel and xorg-edgers
userspace as of today).

EXA/UXA xorg freeze when previewing "hyperspace" screensaver (from rss-
glx package). I've also seen the same xorg stack two other times in UXA
when I was just using compiz+firefox but the hyperspace screensaver
consistently reproduces the problem using both UXA and EXA. FWIW,

Oh and the most important part of the upstream bug report is that the G45
machine shows this in dmesg when the hang happens:
