[Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP

2024-04-27 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I had no problem running Balena Etcher on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Do you have the latest version of Etcher?

1.19.16

[Bug 2036597] Re: Strange permissions and/or links to default directories in home folder (Music, Pictures, Public, Templates and Videos))

2024-04-09 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
It turns out the bug isn't resolved.

I don't why I thought that Gnome extension will resolve the problem in
KDE snap.

This is obviously a KDE program so the fix must be applied to the KDE
extension.

Good news this bug has been resolved.

The fix is currently in the candidate channel of gnome-42-2204 content
snap. I can confirm from my own testing it indeed fixes this bug.

This bug isn't a bug related to just one snap. It affects all snaps that
set HOME to $SNAP_REAL_HOME.

It is a bug of snapd or the gnome-sdk as reported by Popey.

[Bug 1980271] Re: Snap doesn't refresh automatically immediately after snap is quit when update is pending

2023-03-26 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I'm using the edge versions of snapd and snapd-desktop-integration and
the changes work.

When I click the OK button with Firefox or Snap Store update and then
close the app, snapd performs update. I don't have to resort to any
manual tinkering (no snap refresh or killing the process from terminal).

This is great improvement but I hope that eventually users will see the
option to click on a button that closes the app, then applies the update
and finally restarts the app.

[Bug 1934783] Re: Graphical glitches with Mesa 21.0.3 on AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT

2021-07-15 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I used the hirsute LiveCD again and it has mesa 21.0.1.

I refreshed apt but there wasn't any update of mesa. So I enabled
hirsute-proposed and upgraded mesa to 21.0.3.

Then I logged out and straight away there were glitches on the login
screen. I've logged in and confirmed that Gnome Shell and programs now
also have graphical glitches.

Then I used the ppa and it solved the problem. So I confirm that the fix
works.

[Bug 1925320] Re: Backport packages for 20.04.3 HWE stack

2021-07-05 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I've got updates for mesa 21.0.1-2 July 1st and it was upgrade from
20.2.6 which worked without such problems. Then July 2nd there was
upgrade to 21.0.3-0.

I'm not sure if the problems started with 21.0.1.

Also there are programs that work without graphical glitches.
Suprisingly Firefox doesn't have problems but my main webbrowser Vivaldi
does. Also I was able to watch Amazon Prime using ElectronPlayer the
videos display without glitches however the menus of that program do
have glitches.

Also I've checked LiveCD image of Impish and there wasn't any problems
with that.

~/.local/share/fonts directory.

https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts

And now I have this bug.

I removed that directory and copied all those fonts to ~/.fonts and the
bug is gone. I'm not sure if some programs need the fonts to be in
~/.local/share/fonts directory.

[Bug 1867402] Re: [snap] Icons in file picker are corrupted

2020-07-25 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I have two themes connected:

content[icon-themes] chromium:icon-themes
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes -
content[icon-themes] chromium:icon-themes
qogir-themes:icon-themesmanual

And only if I choose Yaru or one of the Qogir variants I don't get the
corrupted icons in file picker.

Choosing Adwaita, Dmz-white, Dmz-black, Highcontrast or any other icon
theme results in corrupted icons.

So the issue is somewhat still present with newest snap system. I'm on
20.04 LTS.

The file picker in Chromium opens up in the snap directory but you can
easily switch to your home directory.

I've uploaded this screenshot using Chromium snap.

[Bug 1573897] Re: Workspace Switcher Shows an Empty Space in Left Side when Launcher is Moved to Bottom

2017-04-09 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
On what version of Ubuntu and what version of Unity.

I just checked it on 16.10 and I don't have any gaps in workspace
switcher.

apt policy unity

Installed: 7.5.0+16.10.20161112-0ubuntu1

If you have gap on the right side of the screen you should open a new
bug report. This as the title suggest was about gap on the left side. If
you open a new bug report please specify the version of Ubuntu you are
using and also Unity version. Try to determine if the problem occurs in
a specific circumstances (the way to reproduce it).

[Bug 1665877] [NEW] Tooltips from Nautilus displayed on top of Unity quicklists

2017-02-18 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Public bug reported:

Tooltips from Nautilus and Gedit side panel are displayed on top of
Unity quicklists. Probably other GTK programs are also manifesting that
problem. This is in Zesty and happens only with mouse navigation.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Nautilus or Gedit
2. Move the window so the side panel is close to the launcher
3. Open quicklist with mouse
4. Hover over one of the items in quicklist

Expected behavior the quicklist item is highlighted.

What happens is that the quicklist item is highlighted but on top of it
I get the black tooltip from Nautilus side panel displaying the path of
directory.

[Bug 759898] Re: Title bar of applications which start before Unity does, gets hidden under panel

2016-08-16 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I don't know why you want us to open a new bug report.

This one describes the issue. And this is still a problem in 16.04.1 LTS
fully updated.

Also it happens with global menu and LIM (locally integrated menus). The
program can be covered by both panel and launcher or only by launcher.

Today with menus set to global part of terminal ended up under launcher.
Most of its menus displayed in the window.

When I'm using LIM then Terminal is covered by both panel and launcher.

[Bug 1384910] Re: Switching maximized windows using the spread might lead to wrong title and positioning

2016-08-16 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
This bug returned in 16.04.1 LTS. I don't know at which point it
returned but it is in this release.

If the user have LIM then switching using arrow keys and enter between
at least two maxmimized windows will give wrong title. Also if you type
in the spread and select the window with mouse it will also result in
wrong title.

On top of that while the wrong title is displayed the window controls
and actions will work for the window which title is displayed.

1. Open two maximizied windows. For example Opera and Spotify.
2. Hit Super + W
3. Select window using arrow keys and enter

Expected result: window title is correct and the controls work for the
selected window.

What actually happens: the title displayed is from the previous window
and if I for example double click panel that previous window is
unmaximizied.

Also Fedora users had the same crash in Fedora 21 and 22. Bug reports

[Bug 1292041] Re: Lockscreen doesn't turn off the screen

2016-07-25 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
To all the users with multi monitor systems still having problems please
open a new bug report about this issue.

This bug is fixed and it will not get any attention from developers.

Bug reports have a very narrow scope. So one bug can't cover all the
configurations and multi monitor systems aren't a common thing. Most
users use only one monitor.

So if there isn't already a bug report for multi monitor systems please
open it and give the link here so all the other users affected can mark
it as affecting them and provide any additional info.

[Bug 1598770] Re: Unity in low-graphics mode has animations and unneeded redraws

2016-07-12 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I tested it on my default install by enabling lowgfx through CCSM.

It did switch off all transparency effects. Also there are no preview
animations in Dash but I still have fade in and fade out animation for
showing windows (Super+W).

In my testing using virtual machine that animation was disabled so I
guess it works as intended. Also in virtual machine I can't enable
workspaces.

[Bug 655831] Re: update-apt-xapian-index bogs down system

2016-06-26 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Correction I didn't purge Synaptic and apt-xapian-index before. Now I
did and the crashes stopped.

The update-apt-xapian-index process is still heavy on resources but it
does work faster. It needs about one minute on my machine after
refreshing sources in Synaptic.

[Bug 655831] Re: update-apt-xapian-index bogs down system

2016-06-26 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Installing a pure Debian package over Ubuntu one isn't a good advice.

Anyway I tried it and all it did was a crash fest for update-apt-xapian-
index process. It crashes for every single operation.

[Bug 1592116] [NEW] In Expo mouse cursor doesn't highlight workspaces

2016-06-13 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Public bug reported:

This was a problem for a long time but recently one other bug has been
resolved (Bug #1575168) which reminded me of this issue.

In workspace switcher mouse cursor doesn't highlight workspaces and also
doesn't affect keyboard navigation.

Using mouse wheel workspaces are highlighted and keyboard navigation
starts from that position.

Also in KDE workspaces are highlighted by mouse cursor and keyboard
navigation takes it into account.

[Bug 1592095] [NEW] Root Nautilus window is invisible to the launcher

2016-06-13 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
Public bug reported:

This problem started after Nautilus was integrated with launcher.

https://plus.google.com/+MarcoTrevisan/posts/SHYq17N91Ej

Nautilus windows opened as root aren't visible to the launcher and
Alt+Tab switcher. Also you can't Alt+Tab to them or switch between
windows with Alt+`.

There are two situations here. First only one window of Nautilus opened
as root. In this case the window will be invisible until the user opens
a regular Nautilus window.

Second case there is a regular Nautilus window and then user opens a
Nautilus root window. The window will be invisible until user opens a
second regular Nautilus or until user switches directories in the window
of regular Nautilus.

[Bug 1573762] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - webbrowser-app does not launch

2016-06-12 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I've got this problem and I have GeForce 9600 GT drivers 340 series.

Also on open source drivers the situation is even worse because while
the browser works using it always ends with a complete system freeze.

[Bug 1588192] Re: GL interfaces seem wedged for Krita on nvidia

2016-06-06 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
There is no snap package on Krita website they only provide appimages.

Also the current snap for Krita is 3.0-snap12. That's 3rd revision of
that package.
