[Bug 1864839] [NEW] Background solid color causes noise

2020-02-26 Thread Michal Pasniewski
Public bug reported:

Setting background to Solid color (Black) causes noise to appear on
background (instead of black). This regularly happens on resume from
sleep.

[Bug 1853126] [NEW] Go To Line... causes text cursor to disappear

2019-11-19 Thread Michal Pasniewski
Public bug reported:

1) I open an CMakeLists.txt (from llvm project)
2) cursor is in line 1
3) I Go To... 123
4) editor moves to some location, status shows Ln 123 Col 1
5) but cursor (keyboard's) is not visible (making me wonder *which* line on the
screen is indeed 123?!)

It is subtle GUI error. I never seen any editor make editing keyboard
cursor disappear, which is why I thought to report it.

I attached the screencast (the file is already open).

[Bug 1776534] Re: Input devices stop working after logout or switch-user

2018-09-27 Thread Michal Pasniewski
In addition to the above symptoms, I had "black screen" after switching
user but keyboard non-responsive.

I ssh'd from a different machine and could only find (in dmesg) "rfkill:
input handler disabled".

Switching to lightdm via "sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm" got switching
users to work.

[Bug 1733569] [NEW] In file explorer Modified column has day of week only (no time) and column change is not kept

2017-11-21 Thread Michal Pasniewski
Public bug reported:

I opened the file explorer (Nautilus?) to check when a particular file
was created. I was interested in time (this is what Windows would show).

The Modified column shows only weekday name ("Thu") which makes it
imprecise and kind of useless. I would expect to see at least hours and
minutes ("Thu 07:44")

When I replaced Modified column with Modified--Time (which shows "Thu
07:44"...), the change is not kept permanently.

[Bug 1724955] Re: unable to drag monitors in Display Arrangement

2017-11-07 Thread Michal Pasniewski
Ultimately there IS a way to rearrange them but one needs to be very
patient. It's like a puzzle :)

All three monitors of the same resolution are connected to an NVidia
1060 with 3 different types of cable (Display, normal HDMI, old HDMI) so
I cannot replug them easily at the card, and I would have do some
rerouting at the monitor stands where cables are attached. I will
probably have to do that...

I also have a TV on an HDMI cable (sadly it always comed as #1), which,
when I last unplugged it, rearranged everything again. Not very nice.

I attached NVIDIA X Server Settings. BTW I tried to reorder monitors in
NVIDIA X Server Settings but the settings were always overwritten on
reboot.

[Bug 1730254] [NEW] Gnome Shell or X disappears with last log message _st_paint_shadow_with_opacity: assertion 'shadow_pipeline != NULL' failed

2017-11-05 Thread Michal Pasniewski
Public bug reported:

gnome-shell or X is disappearing (crashing?), with frequency of roughly 1 time
per 2 days. This last time it happened when my partner was switching users (we
have 2 users on this box "Beast"). This is a new Ubuntu 17.10 setup on
i7700/NVidia 1060 with 3 monitors plugged to 1060. The symptom is black screen
with lines like
[ OK ] Started User Manager for UID 121
and unresponsive keyboard.

Hard drive was blinking so I tried and I was able to SSH into the
machine and run ubuntu-bug.

The log (tail -c4000 syslog) is:

The Infrared Remote is not relevant as it was crashing before I plugged
it in (just today).

I tried to run

   ls -ltr /var/crash/

but it gives me no crash files as of today.
