The new upstream version contains all the fixes addressed in the ubuntu patches (FTBFS) and provides new features as well. So according to the wiki on merging, we can perform a sync. You can do this by either installing and running the program in Lucid Lynx, or by executing the binary from the source package. The directions to create the binary are in the INSTALL file in the orig.tar.gz archive. Once created, you can click and run it in the 'src' folder. Oh I see, it must be because all but the i386 package was built by the buildd system... OK, so to test the newer version you could either try and test this in the development version (lucid), or, from the orig.tar.gz, extract it, and run ./configure make make install in that directory.
