I tested it again - the log in comment 15 represent both situations - when
drive spinned-down and when it does not. Only timestamps differ, messages order
is the same.
Today I tested 5 other drives with different paritioning schemes (1 primary + 1
extended partition with some logical partitions in it):

I patched src-package on my Ubuntu 12.04 (Evince 3.4.0), their one line patch
(http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=236401) fixes this
bug.

Public bug reported:
After automatic upgrade of nvidia-current package nvidia driver is not loaded
and screen resolution is small.
Nvidia kernel module is not loaded, nouveau is not loaded too. It seems that
system is on fallback (vesa) mode.
Screen resolution is 1280x1024:
$ xrandr
xrandr:
After setting nvidia-319 in jockey-gtk window nvidia driver is loaded
and all is OK.

apt-get purge nvidia-319 nvidia-settings-319
I got nvidia-304 back by
apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-304.

But, guys, I can't understand why you not include quirky's patch to libwnck
package. It's simple.
Mousewheel scrolling is very useful, but it's missed in 12.04.
