I’m not sure how exactly upstart’s Stop() method is implemented, but
from my observations swiping an application away from the app switcher
doesn’t give it a chance to shut down cleanly, i.e. it is killed. Which
explains the issue.

The white screen is very likely a renderer process crash. I’ve tried to

Confirmed from Tom’s syslog: it appears the system is running with a
high memory load, and OOM killer gets rid of processes to free up
memory. It happens that some of those processes are the oxide renderers,
but it’s not only them that are affected.

Interestingly, the layout of m.espn.com depends on the viewport width.
So when testing on desktop with the mobile UA, we’re getting the right
content (mp4 videos). Resizing the window to shrink it gets us the RTSP

Just discussed this with pitti over IRC. Apps for which translations are
shipped in langpacks must have X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain defined in their
desktop file (webbrowser-app does), and unity8 should gain the ability
to read that value and query translations accordingly.

To elaborate a bit more on what happens: when trying to download a file
that no installed application knows how to handle, the user is presented
with a message from the content hub saying exactly that, and a cancel
button. The user is not allowed to download a random file with no
associated

Note 2: after turning the screen back on, tapping where the chat text
box is has no effect. Tapping where the chat text box should be if the
OSK was properly hidden does restore focus and shows the OSK, so I’m
suspecting that the display is not correctly updated.

1) open messaging app, start new chat, focus chat text box, see that OSK comes
up
2) turn off the screen by briefly pressing the power button
3) turn the screen back on by briefly pressing the power button again
