[Bug 435431] Re: Software Store shouldn't use hard coded colors

2012-06-29 Thread Pablo Marchant
Marcelo, I don't think your problem is the one described in this bug.
The background and fonts color in the software center are theme
dependant in the latest version. If you try the high contras inverse
theme that comes by default, you should see the background of the
history section in dark blue.

As such, this problem is not related to hard-coded colors, but is much
more likely a problem in the theme you are using not properly adjusting
that color. As that theme doesn't seem to come in official packages, you
should probably try to contact directly its creator.

The new software store present in lucid has changed its color scheme,
but still remains using hardcoded colors...I wonder if you can use
variations of the colors defined by the theme. For instance, if the
window background color is #ddd, use #aaa (ie, use a darker color...).

[Bug 509141] [NEW] Inconsistent spanish translation of Shut down as Apagando in lucid linx

2010-01-18 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

These options are available in the indicator-applet power options (in
spanish):

-Cerrar sesiĆ³n
-Suspender
-Hibernar

The first four of these are infinitives, but the last one, that
corresponds to Shut down is a gerund. The consistent translation
should be Apagar.

[Bug 499100] Re: mountall error message on boot and shutdown

2009-12-21 Thread Pablo Marchant
I seem to be having this same problem. However, it seems to be related
to a somewhat more serious problem. After getting this mountall message,
or after getting this Segmentation Fault message on boot (the only
thing shown right after grub, the boot process doesn't complete), I am
asked to manually run fsck and dropped to a root terminal. Once, I even
got an error saying This shouldn't happen. Data will be lost!

In the root terminal, I run fsck /dev/sda1 which repairs a lot of
errors in my ext4 filesystem. After that, I can boot normally.

[Bug 429003] Re: [karmic] Xorg (and anything GLX) crashes on startup

2009-10-13 Thread Pablo Marchant
@Jack, there are millions of reasons why X might not start. The one that
produced the bug in this case related to an update of libc6 that caused
a problem, that was fixed in a later version. This bug affected all
hardware that used the nvidia driver version 185. As I am using this
driver in an up to date karmic, I am mostly sure this bug hasn't
regressed. You should look if your bug has been reported by someone
else, and if it hasn't, then report one yourself. Remember you should
follow this guidelines in doing so:

This bug is closed, and your bug is different, so you don't have to
comment in this one. You should open a new bug (or search if anyone else
has the same issue and posted another bug to avoid duplicates), and keep
all the discussion there. Only if you think this bug isn't really
solved, or there's a regression that makes this bug reappear you should
add comments here.

[Bug 437204] [NEW] Icons get scrambled with vertical scrolling

2009-09-26 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-store

Tested with the Humanity icon theme.

Many icons get scrambled when using vertical scrolling. For example, the
icons from python, rythmbox and totem, among many others. The
scrambling gets fixed by minimizing-maximizing the window, or grabbing
it to resize it.

Also, icons that have a low resolution (in the sense that pixels are
clearly noticeable) are not affected. Perhaps it's something related to
svg icons.

[Bug 435431] [NEW] Software Store shouldn't use hard coded colors

2009-09-23 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

In several sections of the sofware store, blue or light blue colours are
used that seem to be hard coded into the application. This makes it look

[Bug 413366] [NEW] Karmic, elements of gtk based apps fail to display

2009-08-13 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

Ive seen this on two laptops, one with intel video card, and other with
an nvidia one. The bug appears pretty much in every application, and
though it does not make the system unusable, its pretty annoying...

What happens, is that several gtk elements fail to display correctly. I
attached a screenshot of a print window, where the printers cant be
seen, unless one hovers over each of them.

This can also be seen in gedit, where when having multiple tabs opened,
switching from one to the other causes the whole text are not to be
displayed, and it appears only by scrolling or selecting parts of the
text. Just equally, this is seen in empathy, where both the conversation
box, and the place where you enter new messages fail to display
sometimes. I could mention many more examples, but I dont precisely see
a point in that.

2009-06-17 Thread Pablo Marchant
Im also affected by this. Its not that the wireless device doesnt
connect, it doesnt even appear listed in the nm-applet. Also, the
hardware controllers dont show the broadcom controllers anymore.

As I had done for Hardy, I tried installing the b43-fwcutter package,
but this didnt helped.

To make it work, I had to use ndiswrapper, by downloading this file
http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R174291.exe
Extract it, install and run ndiswrapper:

sudo apt-get install ndisgtk
sudo ndisgtk

And install bcmwl5.inf that is among the extracted files above. Of
course, I needed to be connected to a wired network to do this.

[Bug 327386] Re: [jaunty] Font becomes far too big

2009-03-20 Thread Pablo Marchant
I dont seem to reconfigure my fonts to the way they were previously.
However, this is the thing...

I used the update-manager, and many fonts became bigger. Its not
unusable or anything, and many fonts are displayed correctly, but some
of them became bigger. For instance nautilus shows abnormally large
fonts for the file names, update-manager shows some big fonts too, but
there is no overall growth of everything.

Also, when accessing appereance-fonts, many fonts were listed with a
size 13, (I dont remember precisely the number of 3s but they
were more than three 3s), wich is very weird cause if one tries to
change font size, it wont allow you to input more than three decimals.

In any case, I set all fonts to size 10 and it looks right now.

[Bug 327386] Re: [jaunty] Font becomes far too big

2009-03-19 Thread Pablo Marchant
I also suffered a problem with big fonts after an update on Jaunty (I
had it previously installed since alpha 4 with no problems at all). It
didnt became unusable but mostly annoying since big fonts usually dont
look nice, being the most notable example, nautilus, where the fonts
were big (ugly big) only in the part were the files are listed.

I fixed it by resetting all size fonts to 10 on appereance, but the
strange thing is that when I went there, some fonts were set to
13.33.

[Bug 338262] [NEW] Monodevelop beta 1 works unproperly with vte in Jaunty

2009-03-05 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

Trying to use monodevelop beta 1 with the vte (virtual terminal emulator) CLI
bindings. An example program compiles and runs on a first try, but after
closing and opening monodevelop again, if compiled with debug configuration it
says Vte namespace could not be found, and when using release configuration it
says:
Error during assembly signing. The specified file
`/usr/lib/mono/gac/vte-sharp/0.16.0.0__35e10195dab3c99f/vte-sharp.dll' does not
have a private key(CS1548)

I installed monodevelop and gnome-desktop-sharp2 from the official
repositories, this installs the package libvte0.16-cil wich provides the
vte bindings needed.

Here are the steps to reproduce the problem, after installing the packages
mentioned above.
1: Open monodevelop, and create a GTK# solution.
2: Replace the main file with the example located here:
http://www.go-mono.com/docs/index.aspx?link=N:Vte, but erase the line
term.SetColors (black, white, white, 16); or else it never compiles.
3: In the solution toolbar, choose edit references for the solution (right
click on References) and add both the gnomedesktop-sharp and vte-sharp
references (note that vte-sharp's version will be listed under the added
references as 0.16.0.0).
4: Compile the solution and run it. It should work just right (it will display
a terminal).
5: Close monodevelop, and open it again
6: Edit the file slightly (for instance, add a new line somewhere) and then
recompile (this, is because it will not recompile the program unless the file
changes). Compilation this time should fail with the error mentioned above.

Now trying to remove and add once again the references to see if I could
compile the program again (wich didnt work), i went once again to edit
references, and I saw something strange there. In the list where you can
check references vte-sharp appears unchecked (with listed version
0.16.0.0), but it appears listed under the added references with version
2.12.0. Also, as vte-sharp appears unchecked, monodevelop allows me to
add it once again wich leaves me with two references to vte-sharp...

So,long story short, my solution wich uses vte can only compile when I
first work with it. Afterwards, no matter what I do, I cant get that
solution to work, and I need to create a whole new solution to do
anything vte related.

[Bug 252094] Re: [i965, etc.] Poor graphics performance on Intel

2009-01-16 Thread Pablo Marchant
Well, this bug report shouldnt become a support forum but...

If you disable the backports, the installed package will still be a
higher version, so updating shouldnt change it. I guess you have to
disable the backports, uninstall the package, update your package list,
and then reinstall the package, wich should show the version in the main
repository...

[Guess it works this way, not completely sure!]

[Bug 280390] Re: transmission doesn't minimize to the taskbar

2008-10-18 Thread Pablo Marchant
It seems very strange to mee, since no one ever answered this and it
seems pretty annoying. Transmission is the kind of programs you just
want to be on the tray without filling up your window selector, yet, for
some reason, this feature was removed and hasn't been fixed for a long
time now...I just wonder if they really removed the feature on purpose,
or they did something that killed it...

[Bug 274252] [NEW] gnome-do gCalculate plugin fails to display times symbol

2008-09-24 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do-plugins

When using gnome do to make conversions (via gCalculate), it fails to
display correctly numbers in scientific notation. For instance, if I
put:

1 eV in Joule

It says:

1 electron volt = 1.60217646 #215; 10-19 joules

Here #215 corresponds to the html symbol for times, wich is simply a
cross.

[Bug 273576] [NEW] TTM failed to initialize

2008-09-23 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

First of all, I have ubuntu intrepid completely updated and dist-
upgraded this morning. So, I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug
245888 whish looks similar and is fixed.

I have problems when trying to run a game (spore) through wine. I get
the messege Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to
classic..

Also, when running glxinfo, I have:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ glxinfo | grep direct
Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic.
direct rendering: Yes

Another issue I think might be related, is that glxgears doesn't finish
crrectly. When I close the glxgears window I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ glxgears
Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager. Falling back to classic.
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0
after 4209 requests (4133 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

(the Fatal error is what appears when closing glxgears, the ttm messege
qppears right at the beggining)

And another strange thing I found when trying to work this out...when
using displaymanager-gtk and testing the configuration I get an error on
terminal that reads:

on_button_test_config_clicked()
xauth: creating new authority file /tmp/dcg-jUVKhZ9131/xauthority

Sorry, this configuration video card driver
and monitor doesn't appear to work:

And to finish, the result of executing lshw is:

[Bug 270325] [NEW] gnome doesn't complete startup after updating intrepid alpha 5

2008-09-14 Thread Pablo Marchant
Public bug reported:

I Installed intrepid alpha 5 on three different computers, and only
found this problem in one of them.

After making an update, gnome could no longer complete startup. It loads
the background image, and that's it. I can move the pointer and exit the
session with alt+ctrl+backspace. I already tried eliminating hidden
files (.gconf .gconfd .gnome2 .gnome2_private)

I'm currently using KDE on this computer, but I really dislike it and
want to get gnome back up.

I would appreciate some help on diagnosting and solving this.
