Please start a wikipage to create a specification to which commands the
function keys should be bound to. This will allow further discussion on
the issue and eventually, change in the default settings.

All partitions shouldn't be shown on the desktop as long as they are in
fstab. If this is something you have experienced, that's different bug.
I would personally keep the the home icon since we have many new users
who might not know how to browse their files without that shortcut.
