Choosing properties from a printer's context menu makes gnome-cups-
manager unresponsive. Restarting cupsys, as reported above, seems to

This is, I think, a problem with compizconfig-settings-manager. CCSM
won't write the relevant gconf setting, but it works alright if you set
it manually, like this: (rotating when using the mouse wheel at the
screen edge)

test: Open Dolphin, open a directory with XML files (example:

I take it back. In my case, the problem was due to courier-imap being
configured to only watch INBOX for changes. This setting:
IMAP_CHECK_ALL_FOLDERS=1
in /etc/courier/imapd fixes this. So in many cases, this problem may not
be related to thunderbird, but to the IMAP server being thrifty.

synaptic crashed on me as well when dist-upgrading to current feisty. It
was giving me an error message about the compiz upgrade failing due to
some files being overwritten. I clicked on close, clicked upgrade
and synaptic crashed.

This bit me again today. After re-creating the swap partition, waking up
from hibernation stops working. I also didn't find a way to update /etc
/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume automatically. At least it's not easily
discoverable.
Naturally switching to a swap file would be the favored solution.
For me NvAGP 1 is still required on Karmic with -173 drivers.

current .20 driver from NVIDIA (linked in his comment) on
2.6.31-2-generic.
This was helpful information about installing the driver through DKMS,
so that subsequent updates re-build the kernel module:

F-spot in hardy crashed for me, too. The problem in my case was that I
entered incorrect login information. A work-around is to remove the
offending entry in your gnome-keyring, which can be easily done through
Applications / Preferences / Passwords / Passwords.

hibernation. Effectively, after a dapper-edgy upgrade, the swap
partition is lost. Ubuntu does not work well without a swap partition,
as it wil grind to a halt if you run more than a few programs at once,
even at 256GB RAM. For the

I see two possible courses of action:
1. Stick with nvidia's old .16, but apply the patches from 398893.
2. Bump to .20.
Both fix compilation and compatibility with kernel 2.6.31; both work for
me. This has been broken for some time, and should be fixed before the

I had a similar situation. mplayer -ao oss worked, but -ao alsa or
pulse just left mplayer hanging there. I removed .pulse, killall'd
pulse and restarted the daemon. Then it worked again.

Incidently, 'kmplayer' has 'Media Player' as its Generic Name; Dragon
Player has 'Video Player', but media player is preferrable.

I have the same problem as Jonathan Hunt above (which may or may not be
related to the original report). Waking up from hibernation, network-
manager fails to get a DHCP address. This is a simple wired ethernet
(via-rhine), and already reported as bug 102716.

Binary package hint: acpi-support
After updating my system using update-manager today, hibernation is
broken. Updates included linux-2.6.20-13-generic and acpi-support 0.94.
Booting the old kernel (-9) does not fix this, so I suspect the changes
to acpi-support are to blame.
