[Bug 1787362] [NEW] gnome-shell crash, UI unresponsive

Public bug reported:

Whilst working normally, I was unable to interact with gnome-shell.  The
clock at the top of the screen continued to increment, and I could ssh
in to the machine, but clicking anywhere on the screen resulted in
nothing.  Changing to another VTY and back again had no effect.

I logged in via ssh, killed gnome-shell and re-ran it using
'DISPLAY=:0.0 gnome-shell' which resolved the problem enough for me to
save work and reboot.

The following appeared in syslog - the crash was possibly around 1001:

After update from 12.04 to 12.10
Wireless networking not working. Re installed windows driver for Add on 
ADD-GWK150 Card.
Error Message Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Module ndiswrapper 
not found.
Synaptic shows ndiswrapper is installed, tried re install all parts and failed 
installing dkms.
Error Mesage Sorry a problem occurred while installing software.
Package: ndiswrapper-dkms

Have had problems and had to re install ndiswrapper after upgrade before but it 
will not re install this time.
Internal network card on this ACER 3690 laptop stopped working several updates 
back and have used PCMCIA card wifi since.
