I have it when I restart X ( in the same run ).
It is the session-daemon that causes the ugly theme.
I always get the same thing when I restart X once or more.

I just use the background image of my GTK theme, same as in dapper where it
works.

I use the edgy-default-gaim. which is gaim2b3 if I'm correct ?

Yup, same here.
When you reboot the first time it works, second time maybe, third time it
crashes.

Gaim systray icons 1 px too low.

When you boot, it all goes well. When you restart x it fails.

mine), same affect on themes.
The only difference appears to be in boot behavior. I can fix mine
I added the pam-message, see attached.

I'm on Ubuntu Edgy - Latest ( Beta ).
The splash screen show *loading images* and keeps displaying that until I
force-quit it.
Here's what my console displays:

I don't have the issue anymore ..
I think its solved with removing all bonobo packages ..
I just removed all bonobo packages on my computer .. Now it works.

I use : xhat-xsys, xchat, xchat-systray.
So you go to Settings - Preferences - Network - File Transfer - Download
files to ... - * Browse * ( icons, click it )
When I click *browse* xchat just closes.
