problem because the package he/she tried to install had php5-idn as a

Thats what it seems, yes. When you installed that it brought many KDE
dependencies with it. Thats what is causing the conflicts now.

You have some custom PPA's installed. Looks like the xorg-edgers.
You will need to remove these sources and their packages in order to continue
the upgrade. Consider the tool 'ppa-purge' to do this. Since this is not a
bug in update-manager I am closing the report. Please feel free to

had it installed at one point?

Well I do get the can't load kde (No module named kde) error but it seems to
load the KDE upgrade interface just fine after displaying that message.
