I'm not sure I understood the problem. Re: [Bug 252094] Re: Poor graphics performance and rendering errors on Intel GM965 system, Ubuntu 8.10
50fps on glxgears isn't an indication of vsync enabled (maybe working incorrectly, since usual refresh rates are more likely to be 60, 75, 85 fps)? Do you get tearing on this 50fps setup? The performance is also slow, but this is was already being very slow (compared to Windows) on Hardy. I've attached some files to try to help, case you need more information, just ask. I get the no TTM manager at glxgears startup, but I think you're probably aware of this one. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: intrepid -- [Intrepid] Rendering errors on GM965 (Intel X3100) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262758 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Rayterril, If you have tryed every possibility with gnome-volume-control, I unfortunately don't know what to suggest anymore.. anyway, I'd point the following questions: - is it a clean Ubuntu Hardy install? Did you try making the same (playing with the gnome-volume-controls) through the LiveCD? - are you sure your TV card (or whatever you're putting in your line in input) is outputing the sound correctly? I don't think it's a driver problem since I have exactly the same motherboard (Intel's DP35DP) and alsa 1.0.16 fixed it for me. Good luck! Feel free to reopen the bug (or open some other) if you have reasons to think it's a Ubuntu problem. [Bug 151634] Re: snd_hda_intel @ Intel DP35DP mb.: Input from Line-in / Mic can't be listen in the output
Rayterril, could you give some more detail? If you're using Hardy and have the same motherboard as me, this is kind of weird. On this motherboard, to enable the audio loopback, I go to gnome-volume- control, select edit/preferences and mark all the avaliable devices (just to be sure to not miss anything). With all those devices enabled (sometimes I need to close and reopen the gnome-volume-control for they appear). Once this is done, I go to the Options tab. There should be there 3 Input source selectors. The first one is what matters (I'm not able to make the others work), and I select Line on there. After this, I go to the recording tab and make sure the volume are adjusted (not muted). I recommend setting a low volume because, for loopback, the audio is too much amplified. Finally, on the Switches tab, I enable the Analog Loopback checkbox and then I can listen the line-in audio on the system speakers, so loopback is working, as opposed to this bug I reported - that's why I've closed it (I read somewhere that the person which reported the bug is enough to close it, but feel free to reopen if you have reasons to think it should be). I'm not sure, looking at your comments, if line-in don't work at all for you or if it don't work only for audio loopback; if it don't work at all, maybe you should check your hardware or open a new bug report. -- snd_hda_intel @ Intel DP35DP mb.: Input from Line-in / Mic can't be listen in the output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151634 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 99508] Re: Window titlebar displayed not right with compiz enabled
Just my opinion: I don't believe this is a bug in the Human theme, since the windows manager probably is supposed to have the responsibility to draw things always in a consistent state, which doesn't seem to be the case (since the titlebar appears randomly corrupted). Even if human theme definition file was broken or anything like that, I'd expect all elements to be always drawn in the same way (even if it was the wrong way due to the bad configuration), or not drawn at all. But I confirm this workaround changing the theme file's left_width setting works for me. I didn't understand very well what it does, but I'm not seeing any inconvenient while using it. So I guess this would be a suitable emergence fix for Hardy final, but the real bug itself should be probably fixed in Compiz (or something like that). -- Window titlebar displayed not right with compiz enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99508 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 198453] Re: PulseAudio prevents programs relying on ALSA to work correctly
I believe that applications should be fixed, as Josh pointed, considering that the goal is to have PulseAudio really as the standard way to go. If PulseAudio is being consolidated, soon or later, they'll have to be changed. So those fixes would be for accomplishing the goal, and not because the programs are broken. But I also believe that ALSA emulation should be provided as default and work flawlessly for this transition, since not all packages will suddenly support PulseAudio. This doesn't seem to be the reality in the moment, though. libasound2-plugins is not installed as default on Hardy (and there's not even an working package for 32 bits apps in x86_64 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-plugins/+bug/182731 ). I've read that, in some cases, like wine, the ALSA implementation was making wrong assumptions about the hardware - which prevented working correctly using PulseAudio's alsa emulation. In this case, PulseAudio's team position seems to make sense for me - why would they emulate a behavior to support bad written code, making assumptions that wouldn't work even on some instances of real hardware? I don't know if it's Skype case, but if it is, then it should be fixed by them - just the same way as they should fix if some people were having problems because their soundcard doesn't have an A or B non-standard feature (like a mixer channel). Wine team already said they're taking care of this ( http://www.winehq.org/?issue=344#Wine%20/%20Pulseaudio%20issues ) And while they don't fix, the real soundcard is accessible to the ALSA relying applications when no program is using the PulseAudio's stream (at least in my computer). The problem is that some programs (like flashplugin-nonfree, on Firefox, and other one which I don't remember the name) likes to hold for them the audio stream, and, when this happens, there's no sound avaliable for the non-PulseAudio applications. So, the important question to the bug: isn't there a selfish audio application making this problem happen in your machines? On my machine, Skype and Wine works fine - but only when there's not another program playing through PulseAudio. -- PulseAudio prevents programs relying on ALSA to work correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 213723] [NEW] upgrade to linux-image-2.6.24-15.27 broke suspend to ram
Public bug reported: I have upgraded Hardy from linux-image-2.6.24-15.26 to linux- image-2.6.24-15.27 from the official repositores, just some few hours ago. Afer this, computer was not returning from Suspend to Ram anymore (not even the video display came back). It was always working fine since I started testing Hardy. When booting from linux 2.6.24-14, suspend to ram works normally. I can't try booting again from 2.6.24-15.26, because I see no option for it, but I'm sure it was working, I even tested it today before going to work (and tested other times too). My motherboard is an Intel DP35DP. I don't know what useful info can I provide - since the system hangs after trying to resume, I don't know which system logs wouldn't be overwritten when the computer restarts. I'm attaching an lspci -vv output so you can check my hardware. [Bug 198453] Re: PulseAudio prevents programs relying on ALSA to work correctly
I think putting the command: $ asoundconf set-pulseaudio Will also enable alsa redirection for pulse audio, at least per user, and may be a solution for the problem. I'm using Hardy x86_64, and, sadly, libasound2-plugins is not avaliable for 32 bits apps like Skype ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182731 ). I'd like to know if this works for 32 bit Hardy users, though. Anyone tested? If it works, then setting alsa redirection to PulseAudio by default may be a fix for this bug... at least for the cases where libasound2-plugins are avaliable. Why not to make this change? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libsdl1.2debian I've tested some games using libSDL (like SuperTuxKart), and I've noticed that sometimes game sound doesn't work because the audio playback is in use (ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave message). Or, if the game started before a system sound, the system sounds (gnome sounds, and programs like rhythmbox) don't work. I think that, since the libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio package is in the repositories, installing it as default would (instead of the ALSA one) would avoid those problems, which I believe that are being caused by conflicts with pulseaudio. Like: echo USB0 /proc/acpi/wakeup or echo UHC1 /proc/acpi/wakeup (identifier name may change through different machines) I know I could just add an script to /etc/init.d/... to make this, but I'm reporting this as a bug because I think that, on Ubuntu, it's not expected you have to send messages to system devices/files on command line (or thinks like this) to make things just work. Returning from suspend should feel as natural as coming back from the screen saver. I'm not sure about the deep details, but looks easy to do this, maybe it's just changing a default setting or so.
