I'm using Hardy Heron Beta
Not sure when this started happening, but everytime I reboot my
computer, the time zone changes to a wrong one, and I have to change the
time zone manually.
My real time zone is America/Chicago. But on every reboot, it changes to
It only happens when I reboot, that's the only way I can reproduce the
behavior. Obviously that isn't much help for you, but I'm not sure what
other information I can give.
Result of date on startup:

Then I go to System Administration Time Date Unlock

OK, I've found some weird stuff w/ this problem.
So I log in, and see that the time-zone changes. I go ahead and change
it back to America/Chicago.
If I log out, and press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to a console and type in
date, it shows me CDT as it should (so the problem doesn't happen on
logging out,
Confirmed over here as well, but it happens both w/ CD's and with flash
drives (I have the PortableApps suite installed on my flash drive)

I also have a Toshiba A75 and , the only option that I needed to add
into the kernel boot line was noapic, and it worked fine after that
(for future reference).

I can confirm this on a D630 as well (same computer as adampewolff), and
this didn't happen before upgrading to karmic, same behavior that juun
described also

I disagree that this is an invalid bug. I have a dual-boot system and it
worked perfectly fine on the Windows side (no static), and it also
worked in Ubuntu 9.04 (the problem only started when I upgraded to
9.10). If it was a purely hardware issue then that behavior shouldn't be
happening
