[Bug 762938] Re: Wacom Pressure broken with Qt applications
Looks like we have a snag. Both Animtim and I get the same problem. With the PPA, wacom returns strange results. You can see this in Krita, in the way that every stroke drawn doesn't start where the stylus actually is, but from some point to the top left corner (presumably 0,0) to the point where the stylus first makes contact. It's very odd, and yet it can be fixed instantly by purging the PPA. Strokes drawn with another device, like the mouse are not affected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to koffice2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762938 Title: Wacom Pressure broken with Qt applications -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 672564] [NEW] Kernel hangs roughly every 5-20 minutes since getting a fresh Maverick install
Public bug reported: Lucid worked fine on this system, however since wiping over it with a vanilla install of Kubuntu Maverick 32 bit, every 5-20 minutes the kernel just hangs. I say it's the kernel as even Alt+Sysrq+RSEINUB does nothing. Anything animating on screen freezes and any audio playing stops, ruling out it being something like just being the mouse and keyboard. If you look at the kern.log, the last hang happened at 8:45 on Nov 8 (today) and there seems to be a number of stack traces and similar in there, however I lack any skill to read them. The system was only just installed, and so is very close to vanilla. The only real changes have been updating all packages in the standard repo's and using nomodeset and radeon.modeset=0 as KMS seemed to make things run very sluggish. Xorg also restarts frequently (whenever I type a URL in rekonq, or come out of full screen video playback), although I think this is a separate problem as the kernel doesn't lock up in that case. Touch also doesn't work, however I read that this is a known problem from part of the driver being accidentally left out at the last minute by Ayuthia, and I haven't bothered to run his fix yet. Just mentioning in case it's related. I'll try the upstream kernel and see how that goes. Any other questions / suggestions welcome. [Bug 564420] [NEW] No tablet pressure in KDE / QT apps, GTK apps work fine
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qt-sdk WHAT I EXPECTED: Working pressure from my tablet stylus in both QT/KDE apps and GTK apps. WHAT HAPPENS: Only GTK apps (eg Gimp, Mypaint etc) work perfectly with tablet pressure. QT apps (Krita / QT's wacom widget etc) still respond to cursor movement and clicks, but have no pressure. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Draw a line in Krita with pressure turned on in the painttop configuration window. Krita has no tablet configuration, relying solely on QT. Pressure doesn't show. [Bug 542357] Re: upgrade from karmic to lucid: gui is crashing on login
I'm getting this on a machine with: Kubuntu Lucid AMD 64, Radeon HD 4850 running ATI driver. Ok, thanks for the kick in the pants to get this posted. Anyway, I digress... I did, in fact, get the touchscreen and stylus working, but only by following the instructions for Lucid here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1252492 This compiles a new hid-ntrig.ko module as well as changing 10-wacom.fdi As far as I can see multitouch isn't working, but is being worked on by Ayuthia / Favux / Rayfir. [Bug 411760] Re: Quick Access uses the up one directory icon instead of Home icon
This is the quicklaunch widget, which is default on every install of Kubuntu. It is one of the first things a new user sees when they login / boot a live CD. It is used to quickly browse folders on your computer. The icon in question is the up arrow in the top left corner. It acts exactly as the Home icon does in a web browser, taking you back to wherever you started, thus it should really be the Home icon. An up arrow in file browsing, typically is interpreted as go up one folder level. It does not do this. I have seen countless new users assume it does, and be surprised when they jump to a completely different folder. ** Attachment added: Quicklaunch screengrab http://launchpadlibrarian.net/39136513/quicklaunch.png -- Quick Access uses the up one directory icon instead of Home icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411760 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 510311] Re: Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades
No improvement so far. I can give logs if needed. Quick question: How do I actually try xf86-input-wacom? It's listed at packages.ubuntu.com as being in main, but Kpackagekit / Synaptic / Apt don't see any package by that name after updating. I found it on launchpad, but https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom looks like it is only used to build xserver-xorg-input-wacom, which I already had installed. [Bug 510311] Re: Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades
I don't pretend to know anything about this area. I am curious though, why would an input device problem would be assigned to the ati video driver? I looked through XOrg.0.log and found a whole bunch of references to the wacom module not being found. That led me to noticing that xserver-xorg- input-wacom having not installed properly. It complains of needing xserver-core = 2:1.6.2. Strangely, the installed version 2:1.7.3.902-1ubuntu9 doesn't seem to register as being sufficient, and so xserver-xorg-input-wacom fails to install, which looks like the root of the problem to me. I assume that there is some kind of packaging problem blocking the needed dependencies, and that when xserver-xorg-input-wacom / xserver- core are updated that the wacom module will be installable solving this. ...or I could be wildly, brazenly, completely wrong. :-) -- Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 510311] [NEW] Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Not sure if this is a Xorg bug, a HAL bug, a devicekit bug or a kernel bug, but here goes: When I installed Kubuntu Lucid Alpha 2 (alternate cd) on my Dell Latitude XT my touchscreen worked without any configuration (at least mouse movement and clicking). It worked the next day after reboot, but after upgrading all packages on Monday the 18'th and rebooting the touchscreen no longer works. I'm guessing this has something to do with the removal of HAL, but the thing that has me curious is that the touchscreen still seems to be registering in both /dev/input/mouse1 and /dev/input/mice. Despite this (and the touchpad, pointer nipple and usb mouse all working) it just doesn't seem to influence the cursor at all. By the way, by working I'm only referring to using the screen in single touch, mouse mode, not n-trig's multitouch (although I'm looking forward to getting that working eventually :) Thought I should let you guys know as the touchscreens are fairly unusual technology rapidly becoming more popular. [Bug 500205] [NEW] Dolphin in 4.4 Betas 12 Fails to mount internal drives other than root
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dolphin I have a couple of drives other than the root one. Dolphin in KDE 4.3.4 mounted them with a single click on the Places icon. Since updating to the 4.4 Beta 1 (and subsequently 4.4 Beta 2) packages though, if I try and mount them, dolphin complains for example: An error occurred while accessing '88.7 GiB Hard Drive', the system responded: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied: Refusing to mount device /dev/sdb3 for uid=1000 The root drive (ie Home in places) always works fine. I have an EXT4 volume connected over IDE and an NTFS volume connected over SATA. Both give the error above, albeit with a different drive name. [Bug 500212] [NEW] Nepomuk Semantic Desktop needs the Virtuoso RDF server to store its data.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase Since updating to KDE 4.4 Beta 1, my previously working nepomuk now just spits out the following notification when I log in / try to enable nepomuk: Nepomuk Semantic Desktop needs the Virtuoso RDF server to store its data. Installing the Virtuoso Soprano plugin is mandatory for using Nepomuk. I have all packages with soprano in their name (other than -doc -dbg and -cli) installed. I've tried clearing ~/.kde/share/apps/nepomuk and this happens both in Karmic and Lucid. I filed upstream, and Sebastian Trueg (Nepomuk maintainer) said that Virtuoso Server needed to be installed, although this doesn't seem to exist in the repositories. Just realise that buggy is a relative term and that there are always acceptable and unacceptable levels of bugs that differ between release types types (eg alpha vs beta vs RC vs standard release vs LTS). Every user believes their bug is *the* most important and *the One* that makes all the difference. Software though is always advanced by a balance between getting it out in real world testing with the newer code vs finding the bugs in the current code. Just look at Vista! ;) No software ships with 0 bugs. You just do the best you can to get the most important ones fixed as soon as possible. In this light, I'm sure that many bugs will be found and quickly patched as a result of the initial release and updates. Being fixed before release would be nice. Having the most important bugs patched as quickly as possible (including this one or not) is more important. Anyway, if you'd like to continue this discussion on the forums or privately, that's fine, but I'd suggest we both leave this bug report clear for what we both want: getting a solution found and implemented for this. [Bug 422536] Re: 6.073813] EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. Module will NOT be loaded.
For me this has gone from rock solid stable a couple of weeks ago, to the very occasional error message a few days ago, to a nearly unusable system with no sound, random processes crashing and more. It always starts with the ECC error message though. From the number of dupes this is a very common bug, and if my experience turns out to be average, it may get worse over time. -- 6.073813] EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. Augh. It came back. But it seems to only do it very rarely - like once every few days or so. [Bug 334186] Re: soprano-backend-sesame requires missing /usr/lib/libjvm.so
Am I the only one here who finds it ironic that the status on this in Java is New when this problem has been around since at least Feisty? (That is, Feisty which came out two and a half years ago...) As an uneducated layperson, it seems that you always have java where you have soprano, but you don't always have soprano where you have java, ergo this could be fixed by having an install script with soprano that found the latest version of java and linked to it. The java package could also have something that called that same script (if soprano is installed) to update the linkage for each new java version. Now if only I knew how to code! ;) -- soprano-backend-sesame requires missing /usr/lib/libjvm.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 426138] Re: [karmic regression] slow and shaky detection and connection of USB 3G Modem
Might be useful to take a look at what's in those two logs and see if NM is posting a specific error message repeatedly. [Bug 448292] [NEW] Novatel U727 (Wireless 3G USB Modem) Shows in lsusb in Jaunty Karmic. Only connects in Jaunty.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager NOTE: The logs in this bug report are from my install of Jaunty (which works, slowly, but it works), where the main problem I'm having is network-manager not working on Karmic. Since I can't get internet on Karmic, I figured I'd do the ubuntu-bug call on Jaunty and see what was needed there. I'll try and add more Karmic info after. When I plug the Novotel U727 (sold as a Bell Mobile Internet stick in Canada) into my machine, it takes about 30 seconds to come up and work in Jaunty, but it never connects in Karmic.
